For me still the best restaurant in York. The staff are just so warm and friendly and the food is just crazily good. I love how every time I go there are little additions and changes but they always work in harmony with the theme of the place. Other places should learn from the flawless setup that they have. As a nature enthusiast myself, it is inspiring to me how Forage embraces the local British countryside and natural history by introducing everyone to flowers like meadowsweet, wild garlic and the like all native stalwarts of our natural flora. The food is incredible the ethos and homage to the above is fantastic. Five stars!

What a find this place is. Sarah, our fabulous waitress was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and was happy to share recommendations when we asked. The idea is a tapas style affair with local sourced produce. We ordered everything she recommended as was frankly amazed at the flavours and presentation. The flavours were perfectly balanced and a delight to the eyes as well as the taste buds. It's really hard to pick a highlight but the grilled prawns in herby 'stuff' were awesome, the crab cakes and the foragers fried chicken are a must!

We had my daughters baby shower here 7th May cannot speak highly enough of the whole team venue and amazing food. Sarah and the other waitresses could not do enough to make our afternoon special. The food was excellent and cooked to perfection. Thankyou so much to you all who was involved in making our afternoon very memorable. Would definitely recommend 👌

The place is really cosy and well decorated, but overall I wasn't too impressed. First of all, the service was quite slow and messy - we had to wait quite a while to even have our orders taken, then it was another long wait for the bill; and it seemed like staff weren't sure which tables had been served in the first place... In terms of the menu, it was decent though I didn't get the whole tapas vibe of the place given the food choices; the prices were similar to London prices, which I didn't find elsewhere in York. My friend's steak was extremely undercooked and, in fact, this is the first time that nobody asked whether the steak should be well-done or medium rare... My lamb was nice but also on the slightly undercooked side. The salt & pepper fries were very disappointing. We did enjoy our wine choices and the respective price for a large 250 ml glass was pretty good. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this place overall.
