My puppy and I just completed a 5 week 121 training course with Ian and it went amazingly. I understand my dog better and have bonded more deeply with her through the lessons Ian has taught us. We covered so much in the 5 weeks and Ian gave me lots of homework to make me a more capable handler which was great. He is an excellent and compassionate trainer who deeply cares and understands dogs, can't recommend him enough 10/10. Attached is a picture with the aforementioned puppy and her older brother

I attended Ian’s 6 week puppy training course It was a small group and Ian’s flexible and responsive made it feel personally tailored to each puppy and their owner. His apparently limitless enthusiasm and care for all the puppies in the group was infectious. As well as the usual basic skills (sit, recall, loose lead walking etc) he explained very clearly how to read and respond to puppy body language and that has really helped my confidence in handling my energetic and enthusiastic spaniel. It’s a long journey to get to where I want to be but this was a great starting point. Thank you.

Ian was absolutely amazing with supporting to train our 1yr old Border Collie Lab mix, who had started to become very difficult on the lead, on walks. We did Ian’s block of four sessions and they helped so much, not only with Milo’s confidence but mine- which makes a HUGE difference. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for dog training help for difficult pups, I’m so glad I did. Thank you so much Ian! I’ll definitely be using the dog walking service ☺️ Love Milo and Beth

I was looking for a dog behaviourist local to me and found Ian on google, I have a white german shepherd dog who as she grow from a puppy became very nervous and reactive, taking her for a walk was becoming very stress full and difficult. After having my vet check her health, which its self was very difficult they recommended i contact a dog behaviourist. We have been working with ian for some months now and he has been great to work with, he has identified the reasons my dog acts the way she does and made us aware that this is not a quick fix and has provided us with the tools and knowledge to help us to help my dog deal with the world as she sees it, with out Ian's help i'dont think we could have coped and we were at a very difficult place with her in our life. We now know we are in this for the long run, and have the tools and confidence to help her. Thanks to Ian . At no point were we going to give up on her as she is such a beautiful girl, our bond has become stronger now because of the training we do with her now, and our lives are now so much better, thanks to Ian and his helpers, and dogs. Any one in a similar position should be aware having a reactive dog is not the end of the world and is not a quick fix, its a working partnership, and when it comes together it is so rewarding. Big thanks to Ian.

Review following web-based consultation. Ian Harris is one of many self-proclaimed professionals who seek to apply myopic theories to the practical application of cynopraxic training and behavioural modification. The reality of nature is that learning consists of both positive AND negative consequences to behaviour. Instead, Ian obtains a devotion to the flawed ‘Thorndike effect’, where it is theorised (published hundreds of years ago, yet he calls this ‘modern’) that behaviours considered desirable are rewarded, and behaviours considered undesirable (such as predation of livestock and aggression) are ignored. What Ian fails to acknowledge is, what happens when the dog finds the undesirable behaviour rewarding in itself? Like many, Ian’s solution to this would likely be to ‘control’ the dog’s environment, he would perhaps therefore suggest that your dog is NEVER to be allowed freedom in wonderful environments, for the limitations of his training are at detriment to canine welfare. RCVS veterinarians have publicised their concerns about extremist ideologies such as those adhered to by Ian, the fact that one’s emotive preferences are to hinder the life of an animal is heartbreaking and morally questionable. I would therefore urge you to seek out a truly modern trainer who incorporates the latest technology and studies in their practices, one who does not stunt your dog’s potential because of a preferred application of myopic theory.

I came to Ian for my 2 reactive French Bulldogs. Before meeting with him, they were extremely nervous and scared around other dogs. In a short amount of time, I saw such a huge change in them I couldn’t believe it! We now can walk near other dogs and have the tools we need to support each dog. We’ve tried a number of trainers before but none as good as Ian. He really took the time to get to know both dogs, how they work & find a method that worked for them individually. I’m personally more confident in my dog handling and enjoying our walks so much more. Couldn’t recommend him enough!

Ian came to our house to meet our reactive dog, we met him outside and he threw treats at our dog from a distance, as our dog became more comfortable and moved closer Ian shouted that we are not to bring him closer and to maintain distance, our dog trusts a lot of people and does say hello, it’s only when people take him by surprise or if he doesn’t like you he’ll decide pretty Instantly. Ian then said he would come into our house to “witness” his behaviour but wanted him locked away in his crate with the door shut. Knowing this would stress him out and not sure how he expected to witness his behaviour with the door shut, Ian then blamed us for our dogs behaviour and made us feel terrible, he’s a rescue, hence why I contacted Ian because that’s what he says he specialises in. Ian then showed us some YouTube videos that were not made by him, then as we were leaving told us the best thing to do is if our dog does bite someone to absolutely deny deny deny, apparently his dog has bitten 5 times so if he can’t help his own dog how do you expect him to help you and yours, we were shocked by how unprofessional he was, charged us £90 and never even sent a behavioural report through, we havn’t heard from him since. We have since been to another trainer who within 5 mins gained Frodos trust and actually helped us to work through our issues. Maybe contact Ian for your puppy … I don’t know … but he certainly couldn’t help us with a bigger nervous dog

My dog, Lily, completed the puppy course and found that Ian's teaching techniques and knowledge were outstanding. He taught us so much about dog body language and would do the training at her pace, giving her breaks when needed, not pushing her when she was uncomfortable. She was a shy little dog when she first started, but her confidence has really grown during the training. She has learnt so much and I would definitely recommend Ian.

Ian came recommended to me by 2 people who could help with my 7 month old cockapoo. From the moment I met Ian his focus was completely on Tilly and what needed to be work on. Ian gave guidance on loose lead walking, recall, clicker training and resource guarding. Over the 1-2-1 sessions each one has been valueable and Tilly absolutely loves Ian. The resource guarding behaviour training has been of most value and providing us as owners the confidence to manage the behaviour. Tilly has come such a long way since we first met Ian, I have gained fantastic owner dog training from Ian and would highly reccommend. Thank you Ian
