A Walking Disaster (Job: Loft ladder; install only) £152 paid. Below is a summary of what I got for my money: • An unwanted, four-inch wide, metre-long hole in our plasterboard ceiling resulting from Ian’s miscalculations. This is not his problem as “anyone can make a mistake” • marks on our wall where the ladder deployed against it whilst misaligned • 5” skirting board used as architrave on our CEILING – the only thing wide enough to cover the gaping hole he created • a punctured rubber seal around the loft hatch due to poor workmanship • 4” trimmed off the bottom of my wooden loft ladder AND THEN SCREWED BACK ON AGAIN. “Anyone can make a mistake!” Ian told me, again, when I called him after making the discovery. He made no mention of compromising the structural integrity of the ladder while still at my house and actually admitted to me on the phone that he thought he’d see if he could get away with it. Frankly I’m lucky I spotted it before I broke my neck. • our nice polished landing floorboards turned into a workshop floor, complete with dents, marks, scratches and trodden in expanding foam • expanding foam trodden into our landing carpet • all job waste left for me to dispose of on my drive (“I have to pay if I take it away”, he said) • an offer to ‘put things right’ and a replacement ladder (following advice he received from his solicitor whom I presume he keeps on speed dial). Only problem there is it would involve him returning to our house. Ian has an impervious attitude to his shortcomings. He has a remarkable ability to shrug off any criticism of his work and possesses a vocabulary devoid of the word ‘sorry’. He consistently demonstrated a lack of professional competence and respect for property as well as dishonesty bordering on negligence as his work could have resulted in personal injury. I now need a new loft ladder, a new installer, a plasterer, a professional carpet cleaner, a sander and some varnish.

Ian came to fit two doors . He came on time but was honest when he said it depends on weather.As it turned out weather was good and Ian fitted the doors professionally and accurately. He also cleaned up after. Additionally he helped sort out another door which was not part of the quote. I would highly recommend Ian

Fitted our Backdoor. Ian was Very Professional. He turned up when he said he would and arrived on time. His work was completed to a high standard and didn't take him long to do the job. Ian was very tidy and cleaned up all of his mess afterwards. I would recommend his services.

Arranged three different times for fitting a door and didn't turn up on any of them,no calls to say he wasn't coming .I wouldn't bother if you need anything done anytime soon.Had to go elsewhere to get the job done

Mr Brown firstly gave a very fair quote to fit 6 Oak Doors He turned up on time with his apprentice and proceeded to fit 4 doors in just one day with Proffesionalism ,Outstanding Courtesy and a very tidy worker I would have no hesitation in recomending this gentleman who is Old School where customer satisfaction is paramount Do not use anybody else ,Use Mr Brown who is the best .
