How do you prioritize rescue cases?
At Hungary Hearts Dog Rescue, we prioritize rescue cases based on the severity of the situation. We take into consideration the animal's health, safety, and well-being, as well as the urgency of the situation. We work to rescue as many animals as possible, but we must prioritize those in the most critical need. What is your adoption process for animals in your care?
Our adoption process begins with an application form, which can be found on our website. Once we receive the application, we will review it and conduct a home visit to ensure that the potential adopter is a good fit for the animal. If everything checks out, we will move forward with the adoption process, which includes signing a contract and paying an adoption fee. We strive to ensure that our animals go to loving and responsible forever homes. How can I support your organization and its mission?
There are several ways to support Hungary Hearts Dog Rescue and its mission. You can donate money, supplies, or your time as a volunteer. You can also help spread the word about our organization and the animals in our care by sharing our social media posts and telling your friends and family about us. Every little bit helps us continue our important work of rescuing and caring for animals in need. What kind of support and resources do you provide to new pet owners?
We provide a variety of support and resources to new pet owners, including advice on training, nutrition, and general pet care. We also offer referrals to local veterinarians and other pet-related services. Our goal is to help new pet owners provide the best possible care for their animals and ensure that the adoption is a successful and happy experience for both the pet and the owner. What is your policy on returning adopted pets?
While we hope that all of our adoptions are successful and permanent, we understand that sometimes circumstances change. If an adopter is no longer able to care for their pet, we ask that they contact us as soon as possible. We will work with them to find a solution, which may include taking the animal back into our care or helping them find a new home. We always prioritize the well-being of our animals and strive to ensure that they are in safe and loving homes.Reviews

Hungary Hearts is an incredible rescue. The dogs are always put first, their care and well being is the most important thing. We adopted a large rescue dog from them and we were really well looked after and our chosen dog cared for from start to finish. Infact, I was so impressed that I now volunteer for HHDR and have enjoyed every moment of helping them to save move dogs from certain death and torture. We have since adopted again and foster dogs too. This is a genuine review, unlike some you will see, and you are more than welcome to contact me any time to ask more. Well done HHDR for over 10 years of saving lives - having seen the 'other' side of rescue I appreciate how hard it can be, yet how rewarding it is when an abandoned soul is saved and finds a perfect home for life

I discovered Hungary Hearts when I was searching online during lockdown for a suitable dog to adopt. Now I had retired I needed a little companion that would be OK with my cat. This would be my first dog so wanted to make the right decision. I am so glad I found HH. They have so many lovely dogs that they have rescued and found good homes for. Hilda and her team do such good work saving so many dogs and getting them ready to be rehomed. A thorough process of adoption which is not for profit and entirety with the aim of saving as many dogs as possible. I would definitely always adopt. I have got the most perfect, gentle little dog through HH. She has been so easy to look after. A great Facebook community too with good support.

We adopted Heras (now Honey) in April 2021. She is the funniest, cuddliest, crazy dog ever. Honey truly is a very happy, contented and somewhat spoilt pooch. Recall is pretty good and she has lots of off lead time carefully chosen due to her quite high prey/chase instinct (the street dog in her will never go) but it is our job as pawrents to ensure not only is she safe but that livestock and wildlife is too. She did lose an eye three months after we got her but it has most certainly never held her back and nor would we let it. The process that Hungary Hearts has in place for the dogs from rescue, time at the sanctuary to then ensuring that they go to the right homes is seriously second to none. My only regret? that I can't adopt more. If you have room in your heart then Hungary Hearts are for you. We remain forever grateful that Hungary Hearts trusted us to bring Honey into our lives. We are truly blessed. Sharon (and Honey)

We adopted our two adorable dogs 3 weeks ago. We did a lot of searching for the right charity to use as there are so many out there and it is difficult to know if they have good ethics etc. Within 2 days of filling out a query form, we were given a call and had a long and informative chat about the dogs. This was followed up by a zoom meeting and WhatsApp correspondance with the founder Hilda (who is amazing!) All our questions were answered and photos sent every day until we could get down to collect our dogs. What is brilliant is the access to after care support if needed: a behaviourist for free, and Hilda and other volunteers only a message away. Yesterday we went to meet our local vet. She was really impressed that all vaccines had been given and - most of all - how settled they were. She said that often the rescues she sees are quite restless. I attribute this to the care the dogs are given right from when they are rescued in Hungry to settling in the UK. I really cannot recommend Hungry Hearts enough!
