On Thursday 24th November I reserved and paid for a hire ladder for Monday 28th. At 8:10am on Monday 28th they called me to notify me that they don't have the ladder. Why does it take 4 days to realise and notify the customer. Went to Jewson in stead and they were excellent.

Terrible customer service - AVOID I really would urge anyone considering hiring from HSS to research local alternatives. I had an absolutely appauling experience trying to hire a micro excavator with them. I booked the digger only for it not to show up and they didn't even bother contacting me to tell me so I found out only when I called to enquire after it was 90 minutes late. The service from the Chelmsford branch was without doubt the worst customer service I have experienced in any industry they basically didn't care and offered no solutions until I complained. The second time I had it hired it was 2 hours late despite promises from the regional manager Emma and multiple calls from me where I was given incorrect information. I'm still waiting for their other manager to call me to discuss my complaint 2 weeks later. There are far better local firms to use so please do some research and don't use HSS.
