This company, appointed by my sale estate agent, was so bad I had to change solicitors mid-way through a sale/purchase, and still didn't get a response from them when I informed them they'd lost my custom. Almost zero communication, to the point I still don't really know who my case solicitor actually was. I had repeat requests to fill in the same forms on terrible word documents or badly designed PDFs. No guidance or customer relations, no clear point of contact. Essentially a lazy, careless attitude. I'm so angry they wasted two months of mine, my buyer's, and the seller's I'm buying from, time. That's 8 weeks extra my sale/purchase has been extended and I had to appoint a new company as well - who then managed to get things moving in the space of 5 days. My estate agent described HS lawyers as 'truly appalling'. Edit update: I received a call yesterday from HS (almost 5 weeks after appointing a new firm) asking if HS could begin with searches on my purchase. This would make it 14 weeks since I appointed them to do the conveyance and they're only just asking to start searches, even after an email saying I'd changed company. How any company this incompetent stays in business is a complete mystery.

I was allocated HS Lawyers as Conveyancing Connect had a high work load and had to outsource some legal work for the purchase of my house. They were allocated to me on 12/09/22, I filled out the paperwork requested but didn't chase until our homebuyers surgery was complete (09/10/22), after this date I called and emailed on 6 different occasions and told "someone will call me back" with no one reaching out. Eventually on 27/10/22 I received an email from my new solicitors asking for all the original documents I had filled out. Apparently HS Lawyers had a conflict of interest in my purchase however did not reach out to contact me and let me know the situation nor let me know my case would be taken by another firm. Poor communication throughout and took 6 weeks for them to notice the conflict of interest.

They provide you quotes as if you're born yesterday. Not long ago they quoted me £1400 for buy to let conveyancing when I already knew that the average price was much below. It was amusing to hear the confidence of the owner the way he was trying to rip me off ( I was laughing in my mind ). I ended up with David Williams solicitor on Waterloo Road who quoted me £1100 for the same ,and the service they provided me was second to none. My take away from this case: never think that the Asian solicitor means price would be cheap and service would be exceptionally good. Be wise, ring 5-10 solicitors and compare their prices before using one. Use the resources around you if you've communication issues.
