As a consumer who bought a renovated house from a developer that has since ceased trading, we’ve been left in the lurch by Howdens as a whole. The local store won’t deal with us as we’re not from the trade which means we can’t replace very simple things E.g. cabinet door that was damaged without getting a tradesperson to buy it (but then nobody wants such a small job so we’re essentially left unable to replace it). You’d think they’d have some discretion in areas such as this (especially when there were errors with the installation anyway so their stated reason for only allowing trade buyers doesn’t guarantee good installation anyway), but it feels very much ‘computer says no’. And a similar issue with a broken appliance but we don’t know who the liquidated developer sub contracted the kitchen work to, nor the store it was bought in, so we’re left with a 2 year old fridge that needs repair (and is in theory under an extended guarantee) that, because I’m only a consumer, I’m not helped with… Ultimately it’s the end users paying the tradespersons buying the kitchens etc. anyway so if given the choice in the future I’d want any tradesperson I used to avoid Howdens to avoid being left high and dry basically. The two stars are because the kitchen is otherwise sound.

Absolute disgrace Howdens after care at Ellesmere Port. Had a kitchen fitted a few years back with a granite worktop after we got advised it would last us a very long time. Within the year we started to see defects on the worktop with the sparkly bits starting to come out leaving small holes all over the worktop. Contacted Howdens who contacted QA and they are saying it’s due to heat, QA didn’t even come out to see it it was a sales guy who actually said they will probably say it’s heat damage, not actually sure how this can be as it’s all over the worktop not just in one place. They were quick enough to mither us when we were deciding what company to go with but don’t want to rectify any problems. I would of put zero stars if I could, Jenny.

Most of the doors on the kitchen I bought for £7000 had protective film on the back. This had obviously been left on too long and the film wouldn't come off in one piece. It took approximately 15 minutes to painstakingly pick all the plastic off each door. If this wasnt frustrsting enough, I'm left with a layer of glue all over the doors, so every bit of sawdust , dust was stuck to them. I had to buy thinners to clean all the glue off. All in all this took another day on site, UNPAID. I voiced my complaint at the Burton on trent branch. The assistant manager completely dismissed my concerns and pretty much told me I was lying and no-one had ever said anything before about this problem. The last kitchen I have from them.

Extremely disappointed with the service from Howdens in Swansea. Delivery on 3 February failed to include the kitchen sink and worktop. Left me and my guests unable to use kitchen and dining room all weekend. Had to pay my fitter for work he be was unable to carry out. No explanation, no apology now offer if compensation for inconvenience or expense. Would never ever recommend them . Zero customer service.

We’re do I start with this outfit.Set the account up and put my first order in. 10 oak doors for my new home. Was told they would be in next week ok no problem payed for them not a problem I can wait. 3 weeks later I was told they are on a boat from China.ok that’s fine ring when you have them in. Another 2 weeks later I got a phone call to say they had come in brill happy days. I went back to Howdens Doncaster to purchase 2 more oak doors the same as the others. Was told I had to wait 2 weeks (not a problem at all).2 weeks later phone call from Howdens Doncaster to say they were in fantastic.so I drove down to my local Howdens to pick them up I payed for them they then put them in my van. Don’t no why but I decided to check them.wrong doors ok no problem mistake. Took them off and they replaced them with 2 doors that they said they did not have in so I have been waiting for doors that were completely wrong door size and look.(WOW WHAT IS GOING ON HERE) To then be hit with 2 charges on my card instead of refund they charged me twice. How incompetent is this firm. So yes I had to wait for Howdens to refund me. They did that so all was ok ish. Then today I got a threatening text saying I owe Howdens £12pluss pence. So I called the branch and got completely fobed off so I went down to cancel my account. They did not have a clue at all. Basically they apparently put £12 to much in my account and now want it back. This is some outfit this I was a new customer and my first Purchase was doors at £2300 not bad first order. I was going to order my new KITCHEN from Howdens not now. Still waiting for there complaints department to call me. Stay well clear from Howdens I will definitely not use this firm again (Doncaster branch near the football ground)

Awful. Speaking to someone called Becky from the accounts team. She got very aggressive over the phone and when I tried to intervene to clarify a point they hung up on me. Customer service at its best. I urge everyone to stay well clear.
