Opening Times - The team at Hove Recycling Centre is very helpful when it comes to sorting things out and pointing you in the right direction or even give you a hand when you have any kind of garbage. Yet, the handling of the opening hours isn't something I am fully agreeing to. Closing on Sunday at 13.30 is understandable as the staff working there also have families. Yet, if you close 13.30 on the day when most people working during the week have time to get to the recycling centre then close at 13.30 and not 13.00 as it was now the case for me and many others that are surprised that they weren't let in at 13.00 or shortly after. If the staff is to go home at 13.30 short then the opening hours should be changed to 13.00 so that really every customer can be let in until that point in time and is out and done by 13.30. That's what you'd expect for good customer service.

Lazy staff close the site early every single day it seems. 3 times in a row thishadhappened to me anyway. Wasting peoples time and expensive fuel. I would sack the lot if them and start over.

Pretty much all the materials are covered here and what they can't they now state will go for incineration for power. They've now added hard plastics which is a bonus so now washing my plastic food trays and pots and sticking in this bin.

Having used this facility for over 20 years I am sick of their attitude towards vans. I used to be welcomed in as a regular, then they started accusing me of being a scrap merchant so demanded my Council Tax bill (I work for the council!). Having moved across town I rarely go anymore but did last weekend with my grandson to look for toys in the YMCA shop. But no, new jobsworth on the gate trying to tell me my van is too heavy to enter the site! Why, is their concrete paving collapsing? Apparently you have to be under 3.5 tonnes (mine is way under), even to try to buy goods being sold by the onsite charity shop. He eventually risked his life by letting granny & toddler in, with the proviso I prove my vans weight in future!! Get a grip BHCC, idiots!!!
