First time buyer - middle report Would not recommend. Total waste of monies. See review on Trust Pilot. The only positive is Housecheck are very good and taking the fees upfront and getting the survey done as soon as possible. The rest of the service? Is not acceptable In our opinion. I don’t often write negative reviews but this had to be said.

Instructed a RICS survey and valuation on a property we are purchasing. The property Square Footage has been clearly and correctly noted on the Floor Plan at 110sq m and is in accordance with the next door property which is exactly the same size and layout. On carrying out the survey the Surveyor was accompanied by the owner of the property who confirmed that he didn't once measure any room and yet came back with a square footage of 97 sq m and mis-read the floor plan thinking that the internal staircase leading up to the flat was incorrectly included by the estate agent on his floor plan when clearly it wasn't. Regardless of this, why would a RICS surveyor rely on an Estate Agent floor plan anyway, surely they should be measuring themselves, isn't that what the paid service includes? The Houzecheck Surveyor subsequently downvalued the property by £50k on the basis of a 97 sq m apartment as opposed to what it measures at 110 sq m. The Estate Agent has confirmed the correct measurements and we are having the property re-valued and measured by another independent Surveyor to verify. In the meantime I am escalating this complaint to Houzecheck and wish to receive a full refund on monies paid for this incompentent Surveryors work. I have requested that he actually comes and re-measures the property correctly rather than make assumptions just because he's too lazy to do the job he was paid to do. BEWARE BEFORE BOOKING THIS COMPANY AS IT SEEMS THE SURVEYORS DON'T EVEN SPEND THE TIME THEY ARE PAID TO CARRY OUT THE WORK CORRECTLY.
