Hats off to HPLP, especially their conveyancer Meena Daddar and her assistant Niamh Maher, for getting the purchase of my apartment over the line! There were a couple of complexities that had eluded other solicitors or conveyancers whom I had initially approached. Meena could walk the walk and we can’t thank her enough for getting the job done.

Super service and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this firm. We (group action) had a complex case in North Staffordshire and short deadlines and Mark Eaton and his team were excellent in all aspects: speed of taking us on, responsiveness during the case, advice given and results achieved. Many thanks to all and I would highly recommend.

Absolutely horrendous experience with these people who I would not recommend to even my worst enemies... I used them as solicitors in a deal with a flat that needed lease extension by a recommendation by a friend. My initial conversation with Aashu Oberoi created further good impressions and I was all confident I was in really good hands. Until I 'met' my conveyancer Meena. Throughout the process I did not think I can meet more disinterested person in the world. Agents kept calling me that my solicitor would not reply back, then I had to flip emails back and forth to only get the blame for not being in the loop myself... We got to the point where Meena remembered that I have not signed the Deed of guarantee a few days before completion so I had to leave my busy schedule and run to Harrow and back to their office to have that witnessed by an independent solicitor... However, nothing can beat the shock that I experienced today, a few weeks after the completion that took about 6 months, when I contacted Aashu by email to check how the lease extension was going... He came back to me with a nonchalant 2+ year timeframe and their fees.... You need to understand that I only hired this company to deal with this and in my first conversation with Aashu it was hi who suggested that we do not wait 2 years of ownership but ask the vendor to serve Section 42 notice in order to start the process on the basis that the solicitors' fees will be much higher in 2 years so there was no case for waiting... Of course, they did nothing of this and his excuses today varied from 'there is no need to do that now with a healthy amount of years remaining on the lease' to 'there was a bit of a period between our conversation to the moment you instructed us and I can't keep all details in mind because - you see! - we have a lot of enquiries', the most pathetic being 'I have a recollection you were talking about another property that only had 81 years remaining' (which is an absolute lie btw). In short - avoid at all cost because it's clearly a pot luck with this company.

We used this company earlier in the year for conveyancing. We instructed them for the sale of my partners property and the purchase of the remaining share of my property, there was no chain and the process took over 4 months. Communication was incredibly poor, updates were not provided unless we chased them and information given to us was poorly explained even when we asked for clarification. The buyers had been told that delays were due to my partner not sending the required documents, but our solicitors had never asked us for them. We were also told by our solicitors that they hadn't received certain documents from other parties, we wasted time chasing these only to later find that they had been sent all along. We were also told that we needed to find out certain information and send it to the solicitors but everytime we tried to do this we were told your solicitor should be sending this request not you, they need to contact us. They also failed to tell us until late on in the process that we needed to pay for a very expensive "management pack" to be put together and said we should have been told this earlier. Months in, we were over the moon to be given a suggested completion date, only to realise that it was only for the purchase not the sale. When we questioned how we could complete the purchase without any funds from the sale we were told they didn't know we needed the sale money to go towards the purchase. Finally, we had to argue multiple times that we didn't owe any stamp duty but they still charged us for it. We explained in detail all the reasons we didn't owe stamp duty and kept being told we do but we were never given any reason that made sense. Eventually I had to ring HMRC and they agreed we didn't owe stamp duty, and the solicitors finally said they would refund us after telling us they aren't tax specialists they just fill out the paperwork. The refund never showed up until we chased it up a month later.
