Stayed here about 30 times in the past 9 months for work. Nice but frustrating hotel to stay in. The rooms are nice, clean and modern, it’s moreso the design of the hotel building that’s annoying which is no fault of the staff or anyone who works here. The building has a hollow centre, which means there’s rooms ‘around’ the centre which look “inside” the building out of your window. This means that when you’re lying on the bed, people walking in the corridors outside your room can see you (unless you shut the curtains). Because of the hollow centre, there’s minimal natural light, so you can turn a light onto help which makes you even more visible to people in the corridor. If you shut the curtains it feels so dark and depressing in the room because obviously it’s light outside during the day, there’s no ideal solution and if you’re working or need to be in the room a lot it makes it a bad experience. Shouldn’t be a problem if you’re just sleeping and that’s it If you get a room on the ‘outside’ of the building this issue is largely solved, however if you get unlucky, you’ll get a room that has its recognisable giant blue lights around your window which turn your room into what looks like a sunbed at night unless you shut the curtains entirely (it still comes out the top though). If you get a room on the outside (or even better the corner) with no blue light bar around your window it can be a very pleasant experience. As far as the staff and service go, room is always spotless when returning to it, the staff are great and the rooms are nice. Again, moreso the design of the hotel that is the issue - everything perfect other than that

I had a really pleasant stay at this hotel. Things started really well when I arrived to find that I could get into my room at around 09.00 a.m. Almost unheard of these days... My room was much bigger than I was expecting based on some reviews. I went for the slightly larger room (18 sq.m vs. 16 sq.m) and it paid off. The bigger rooms come with a view and mine (7.66) had a great one of St. Peter's Sq. itself. I would recommend trying to get one of the ".66 rooms" on any of the 8 floors. Everything in the room worked and everything was very clean. The bed was very comfortable, the shower worked well and the curtains closed properly. The window could also be opened slightly for some fresh air. I didn't try out the breakfast or the bar as I really wanted a "full English" every morning and to experience the Manchester night-life full-on. I only staff members upon arrival and departure but they were very friendly and helpful both times. Highly recommended!
