Amazing hotel, hasn’t changed much since the last time we were here 9yrs ago, and I think that’s a testament to the design of the place! We stayed in a junior suite last time around, and booked the same room this time, although were offered one with a terrace which was amazing, as it got the sun for a good part of the day! Staff were all lovely, couldn’t be any more helpful. Room was stunning and clean, and the breakfast was just like I remembered - AMAZING!

We decided to stay here as part of my wife’s bday and it looked unreal. We booked the Thierry Lombard signature suite and we were very much looking forward to the 2 free-standing baths whilst watching Netflix. Firstly, the service wasn’t the best. It would have been nice if the woman at the desk cracked a smile but instead she looked pretty miserable. We got the keys to our room and were immediately impressed. The suite was large and looked just as good as the pictures. The surround sound system was a nice addition and the bed was gigantic. The showers are also massive, although we did notice there was white mole on the shower heads. It was very disappointing to find that the ‘smart’ TVs had the internet disabled, therefore no Netflix or similar, just normal TV (who watches that these days?) I went downstairs to enquire and the guy at the bar was also quite door faced and bluntly said that the TVs didn’t have that. I am pretty sure the premier inns even have digital TVs with these services on them. Anyway, we had to resort to watching our show on our iPad. We decided to get dinner delivered to the room. It didn’t take too long to come - maybe 25 mins. The food was not bad. We got bread and butter to share. I expected the bread to be a bit nicer but it was just a normal baguette which was fine. We also got salami sausage thing which was pretty good but just looked a little odd on its own. For main I the salmon fish cake with wilted spinach. It was quite nice but I expected it to be a little more substantial. My wife’s burger and chips were great although there was a bit missing from the bun. For pudding we got crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e and a chocolate mouse thing. The crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e was surprisingly large and it was tasty. The mouse was also very good. At night we had to turn on the air con because it was very hot. Unfortunately we could only see one window we could open. The aircon was quite loud. The window blinds weren’t very effective either so light shined through in the morning. So, despite having a very large and comfortable bed, we didn’t actually sleep that well. Overall, we were a little disappointed with our stay. I certainly expected better, especially considering how much we paid. It’s also ÂŁ10 for parking which you would think would be free if you are already paying for accommodation.

What an experience. This has to be one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at and definitely the best Hotel du Vin in the UK. My room was enormous, classy and well stocked with toiletries. The walk to Newcastle city centre was scenic and straightforward. The customer service was some of the best I’ve encountered - a massive thanks to Claire and Rachel for making this such a special stay, you’re both amazing!

Tucked away slightly further from the city centre, but certainly within walking distance (roughly 15-20 minutes), this is a genuinely lovely hotel with bags of charm and professional, friendly staff. I stayed for one night in a deluxe room, which was spacious and clean, with plenty of character. It was reasonably priced, with a separate free standing bath, huge shower and separate toilet room. The room also contained a iron and ironing board (always useful) and shower gel, shampoo and moisturiser - there are also some complimentary toiletries for the bath. The staff were on hand for any queries during the stay, and the hotel bar well stocked. There was a good selection of food for breakfast - both cooked and continental options (would recommend the croissants) - one bit of feedback, I would have liked baked beans with the full English. Noted it's not listed on the menu with that dish, but it did feel somewhat missing! The only other niggle with the room (could have just been mine) was the lack of water pressure coming from the shower. It could have been the time of the day but at times it did feel like a trickle. Other than that though, it was a pleasant stay and a beautiful hotel to stay in. Will definitely be using it again in the future, and will recommend to other colleagues!
