Arrived with severe sciatic pain and had to park 200 yards from reception. Limped slowly across the road and eventually to reception. After a bit of a wait they advised me i needed to walk around the corridors to the A&E entrance. The nurse kindly walked with me, though i had to stop every 10 steps due to pain. After getting about half way to A&E she asked if I wanted a wheel chair, but we were now within visual distance of the check in so I declined. At the A&E desk there was a gentleman taking information from another person, so I took a seat. After the other person was checked in the gentleman never made eye contact, nor asked if I needed to check in. I had to stand up and ask if i could check in. He began the process and then proceeded to tell me I should be at the Urgent care facility on the other side of the road or I would be waiting for a long time. A bit incredulous due to the leg pain I had already experienced in the walking I had already done, i rested for a few minutes and proceeded to limp out the door and cross the road again stopping every 10 steps to ease the pain. When i arrived at the urgent care door, I rang the bell and the woman who answered asked if I had the slip of paper the reception should have given me. I asked if she was serious since I had just come from there and sitting on the wall outside the entrance begged her to call the desk where I had just come from to please explain that I was already there and told to come over here. I also explained there was no way I could walk any further given the pain I was in. She left me outside while she called and then allowed me in. Inside they were kind and efficient, but i had already made up my mind that this visit was a mistake. The doctor simply prescribed yet another pain medication, which would be the 5th prescription since my pain had begun. So I left and had to walk back to my car with no offer to help. Outside and in, at least a dozen or so people on the walk to and from each of the buildings could see i was having trouble and not one stopped to even ask if I needed help. Overall I found this to be a complete waste of time and a genuine low point in my NHS experience.
