I write this with a heavy heart and I’ve never written a bad review for anyone. I’ve rent a property from this agency and have been an excellent tenant. I’ve paid rent exactly on time every month for 18 months. I left it in excellent condition and even paid for professional cleaning. Now 32 days after I’ve left, I still have not had my deposit returned. The law is 14 days. Several delays and excuses from a very unreasonable landlord, who couldn’t check the report since he’s been in a luxury cruise from South Africa to the UK, whilst I’ve been waiting for what’s rightfully mine, my deposit to be returned to me so I can put a roof above my head and rent a new property. Amongst this cost of living crisis, he’s put me in a very vulnerable position, whilst Horton and Garton who are actually my registered deposit protection nominated landlord, have been allowing him to take his sweet time, holding what’s rightfully mine. I will be going to the Ombudsman’s. My advice if you’re planning to rent from this agency, make sure to withhold the last months rent, let them chase you to claim it off deposit instead of making you feel like you’re begging for what’s actually yours. I would never rent from them again.

Horton & Garton have been fantastic - from the first viewing the service has been miles ahead of the competition. All of the viewings were straight forward to organise, the viewers were knowledgable (we had some viewings with other agencies who didn't know the basics such as square meter of the flat, or simply just not turn up), and all the staff are great to deal with, especially Joel & Nick. At times, it felt like you were the only guys who gave us guidance. I highly recommend dealing with Horton & Garton.
