Beautiful place to get married, all the staff were lovely

Beautiful venue, lovely registrars, very poor management and rude usher!! We got married here in May 2022, which we had booked and paid for 40 guests prior to Covid. Much later, as the government removed all Covid restrictions on numbers, the registry office decided to keep a reduced number to 30 guests. They failed to inform us of this decision for more than 2 weeks, and when they did, it was via a generic "to-all" type email, with absolutely no concern for us as paying clients, who have been planning for nearly 2 years! We tried to discuss this directly with the office management, but most points we raised were ignored instead of answered. The office were totally unwilling to negotiate on price or guest numbers, and simply offered us the opportunity to cancel for a full refund. They did this with the full knowledge that we would have great difficulty in finding any other venues at such short notice, and following covid lockdown. Plus invites had already been sent! The reason given by the registry office management was to protect themselves and our guests against covid, yet their staff were not required to wear masks or distance from our guests on the day. Which completely negates their reasoning for reducing the number of guests in the first place! Moving on, I (the groom) arrived at the registry office on the day during my allocated time with a small party of family and friends (all guests). We were met by an usher who never gave her name. She immediately kicked out the guests I had arrived with, only allowing my Groomsman and Best Man in so that she could give us a good dressing down. She refused all other guests entry until after the wedding car had arrived with my bride inside, who was not supposed to have been seen by the guests until walking into the room. This particular point had been discussed and agreed with a registrar before the wedding, as part of our wedding planning. The Usher then told the chauffeur that he was not allowed to park the wedding car in the marked bay (for wedding vehicles) immediately outside the doors of the office, and in doing so forced my bride to walk past all the waiting guests who were only just finally being allowed entry. Just to mention that this vehicle was very much unmistakably a wedding car, and not simply someone trying to park their Ford Galaxy in a marked bay! Picture attached. The Usher told our photographer that she was NOT to roam freely around the room during the ceremony, but was instead to choose a spot immediately and not move from it. These are almost the exact words the usher had used. It was not only rude and demeaning to the photographer, who has now decided she will not work at this venue again, but was also directly contrary to what had been agreed with the registrars during the wedding planning. The photographer apologised sincerely to me, and informed me that this meant that she would be unable to get the best pictures of us both for our wedding day. The Usher went on to upset the Bridal party (including a small child), the mother of the bride, and several others. The Registrars David and Katharine were lovely. We really can not thank them enough, or praise them enough for helping us through and delivering a beautiful service. They were fantastic!! The building and gardens were also lovely and beautifully kept. So, why the bad review? Following our experience, we received an email from the registry office asking us to post a public review. We felt we should give them the opportunity to explain why some of these events happened, or even to apologise where appropriate. We directed the email (on 18/06/22) to one of the managers who we had been corresponding with before the wedding, and to date we have received NO response. It is such a shame that such a beautiful venue is so poorly MANAGED by people, who quite clearly DO NOT CARE about you and your big day, so long as they get their money. Thank goodness they have such fantastic registrars!!
