Having read the many 5* reviews I was disappointed. Firstly by the relatively small selection of main meals, then having asked about their “Horse & Groom” speciality pie and told it was Steak & Ale, we asked for three only to be told that there was only one left - early on a Thursday evening. Two of us had the pasta which tasted of little other than Parmesan and my fish, although very fresh, was in batter that was overcooked. I did have the cheesecake dessert which was excellent - but it wasn’t a cheesecake. Very good service, but overall trying a bit too hard and not quite getting there. Four drinks, some bread, four mains, just one coffee and one dessert was £140

We stayed here for a night with our 2 large dogs, one of which is a rescue so a bit reactive and getting used to the world around him. The hotel made us feel really welcome and went the extra mile with accommodating the dogs. There are some excellent dog walks in the immediate vicinity - the rooms have a helpful card that you can take on the walk for directions. The food in the pub was exceptional - we had lunch on arrival, dinner in the evening and breakfast the following morning - it was all amazing - I cannot recommend enough! We will definitely be visiting again
