    After visiting many timber suppliers not finding what we were after, Horndon Timber listened to what we were trying to do, they were then able to offer a solution to our requirements and a personal service, cutting to precise measurements and getting it planed saving many hours of work making our purchase a pleasurable one. All the other suppliers offered either substandard products, or no cutting facilities, and no planing services. Would definitly recommend them and will use them again.

    I visited Horndon Timber in person with my two young daughters as I was in the area already and wanted to inquire about red cedar cladding. Another company quoted me over £1,000 + VAT so not a minute order in my opinion. I have had red cedar worth over £1,000 supplied by Horndon Timber in the past so I visited them as a returning customer. I was greeted by one of the staff who kindly started taking all necessary details from me so that I could be provided with a quote. A few minutes into our conversation a man walked past us. On his return he snapped at me without so much as saying hello declaring I should email instead clearly signaling that I am keeping his staff from working and that I should leave. Another of his staff suggested he calms down but the man was rude enough to not tell me his name when I kindly asked him. When I asked him why he wouldn't tell me his name he turned his back to me and started walking away shouting 'Because I said so!'. I asked him his name as I wondered if he was the person whom I placed my previous order with wanting to break the ice between us and avoid further confrontation. When I realized the man was the boss I decided that his mannerism and a clear disrespect for his customers were enough for me not to consider him for any future business. If you want to feel disrespected and unwelcome by the boss this is the place for you.
