Stayed one night in a suite at the cost of £394.00 for one night, the TV did not work at all. I complained at checkout, the reception staff didn't really care, they replied the housekeeper may have disturbed the cables when cleaning. Obviously they do not check the tv's in a £400.00 per night room!!! Rooms : 1/5 | Service : 3/5 | Location : 5/5 … More

The hotel is beautifully decorated. The wooden decor provides a unique modernist experience, whilst from the outside remaining true to the original buildings heritage. The service of the hotel staff is something the owner should be proud of, especially the nightshift worker who always greeted us with a smile and was more than happy to get my partner ice cream and more coffee pods as she drinks it like it is going out of fashion! We stayed in a corner situated studio room for two nights. The room was a good size with three large windows which created such a bright and unique space; it was truly a pleasure to be in unlike some of the large chain hotels. The freestanding bath was a hit with my partner. All the amenities we needed were available within the room and anything extra we needed was easily acquired from reception. The thermal journey was really good, though we ended up only using the outdoor pool as this was warmer than the indoor one which was too cold, the waterfalls weren't working in the indoor one either. It's easy to access all areas once you are on there with your wrist band, which also controls the jets for the outdoor pool; that's is a nice touch. Still regardless these minor things the Spa is well worth a visit. We had both breakfast and lunch at 1941, the breakfast is enjoyable with a variety of options, the staff were very friendly. Lunch-wise, the food was exceptional! The wild boar red wine spaghetti bolognese is something that you have to try when visiting. The pizzas and flatbreads are all freshly made and very nice. My partner really enjoyed her salad and lasagne also. The only downside I can point out that I think needs resolving is the night menu for room service. In the room you will find an information sheet starting to access the menu, use your TV. Yet, the menu on the TV is not accurate, my partner wanted a chocolate orange brownie but we were informed this was not something they offered. We were instructed there was a selection of ice cream and fruit sorbet; but all that was available was chocolate and strawberry ice cream. As the menu available via the TV was inaccurate, this places night staff in a delicate position whereby they have to mildy disappoint the guest, which you can feel causes them anxiety and is not something they want to do. The guest is receptive to this an it creates a moment awkwardness that is uncomfortable for both the guest and the staff member. This wouldn't cause me to downrate the hotel as it's minor; but for the future, if staff and guest are on the same page about what is available it removes the aforementioned interactions inevitability. Walkability: It's a short walk from the city.

Just had the afternoon tea, whilst it was nice, adding on a tip to the bill annoyed me, I paid it but I'm sorry, 4 sandwich fingers, 2 scones and 4 mini cakes £29 per head!! Really! Not impressed won't be back although the setting was lovely I'd rather have a meal for that price. Service : 4/5 | Location : 4/5 Hotel highlights Luxury … More
