Took up crochet again (self taught) I had bought at craft fairs 2 crochet kits but was stumped bought 1 hour session with Sylvia very informative ironed out many queries very pleasant lady after Xmas went back for another session just to make sure I was doing things right picked up some more tips. If in the future I am struggling would certainly go back again.

My daughter (11yrs) and I had a private crochet lesson with Sylvia. Neither of us had ever crocheted before. Sylvia was calm, patient and very attentive. We both left the session with a good understanding of the first few stitches and we were able to buy a few starter accessories from her to continue our practise. We plan on going back soon to learn more and would thoroughly recommend her as a teacher.

As a complete beginner I had really struggled to get going but just 1 session with Sylvia was enough to guide me through the basics and set me on my way, and now I'm hooked! Prior to Sylvia’s classes, I had just about learned to do a chain stitch, but every time I attempted anything further I would end up in a knot - and not be sure if it was the right kind of knot and If I just persisted I would end up with something that made sense. Sylvia’s class was wonderful for a first timer. I wanted a place to learn where I would get to have multiple weeks of consolidation rather than just one one off session for a few hours. Within the first week we’d all learned to do a treble stitch. I basically made a blanket practising after that. I found Sylvia’s methodical and careful nature really helpful to my practice - learning how to know if you’re skipping stitches is really useful, and also you never need to undo a lot of work to find your mistake usually which is the nice thing! By the end of the course we had learned to follow patterns and do at least 4-5 kinds of stitch (and also useful tying together ones like slip stitches!) and had made 2 granny squares in the course of about an hour. I could not recommend her class more highly. I am currently out of commission with corona, but when I’m back in action and at my hooks again I will be 100% taking another few lessons with Sylvia. She has truly gotten me…….hooked on crochet!!

Sylvia provides a calm personalised approach to crochet lessons. Lessons are targeted based not only on your capabilities but also any existing projects/creation desires. Lessons are held in a cosy, relaxing environment. I have had 2 private lessons with Sylvia so far and will definitely be continuing with them well into the new year. Sylvia also has an array of different yawn to purchase for any projects you are wanting to do/finish off at home. I definitely recommend booking yourself onto a lesson. I have learnt a number of different crochet stitches and have started on a few projects so far. I am so happy to have discovered Hooked on Crochet school.

I booked a session with Sylvia to get back into crocheting. I already know a few basic techniques but needed a refresher as it has been some time since I last picked up a crochet needle and I needed help with a couple of projects. For example, she helped me freshen up on some of the basic steps with some new techniques and she helped me go through a couple of my recently purchased patterns where we would pick a few steps and she showed me what the instructions meant and how to do it where I wasn't sure. So if you are new to crochet or just need some help with a project I would recommend Sylvia as her lessons are quite flexible and easy to follow.
