Eve Pitts is not a nice woman. She has a huge superiority complex and God gomplex. She has ruined three funerals that I have attended, by shouting at attendees and telling them that she demands respect. It seems Ms Pitts feels insecure about her marriage choices and as a result - on 3 occasions - has gone off on a tangent about how she married a white man but has taught him to respect black women, but in the same breath perported that she is embarrassed by the way black women carry themselves nowadays. She screamed at family members for not knowing the words to hymns (although she was reading off paper herself) and demanded silence around a family members grave on two occasions (we prefer to sing after burial and often speak of cherished memories around the grave - she was not pleased with this and implied that any sign of happiness around a graveside is disrespectful). The funeral service was halted several times while Eve(il) screamed across the service that all in attendance should repent for our sins and that our time was coming. She also screamed that she commanded respect and "do you know who I am and how many services I have ran in my life. I'm the best around." She charges a very large amount for services and has a lot of "add on extras". While I don't expect anything free, her prices are questionable and begs question as to her motive - she also made people very aware that she lived in a large house and was quite well-off. I would rather be buried by an elephant than this con artist - any day.

I attended a marriage this weekend that was presided over by Rev Eve Pitts. I would like to say that I was blown away by the passion, knowledge, compassion and sheer artistry with which she spoke during the service. I am not catholic and think of myself more as a spiritual agnostic, but I must say that I was inspired by this beautiful black woman to discover more about the history of my people. Thank you Rev Eve Pitts for making a truly special and memorable occasion all the more important on a personal level. Good luck spreading your message.

Friendly church built in 1864 in the gothic style, very well maintained. Lovely child friendly service went on just a little bit too long. Interesting display of the church's history nicely presented with some painfully honest reflections about "welcoming" Afro-Carribean congregants in the 1970's and 80's.
