FAQ

What is the denomination's stance on key theological beliefs such as the nature of God, salvation, and the authority of scripture?

As a Greek Orthodox Church, our stance on key theological beliefs is rooted in the teachings of the Holy Bible and the traditions of the early Christian Church. We believe in one God, who is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ. We also believe in the authority of scripture as the inspired word of God.

What sacraments does the church offer and how does it administer them?

As an Orthodox Church, we offer seven sacraments, which are baptism, chrismation, Eucharist, confession, holy orders, marriage, and anointing of the sick. These sacraments are administered by ordained clergy, and they are considered to be a means of God's grace for believers.

What is the church's statement of faith?

Our statement of faith is based on the Nicene Creed, which is a declaration of the Christian faith that was adopted by the First Council of Nicaea in AD 325. This creed affirms our belief in one God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and in the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.

Does the church have any specific outreach or community service programs?

Yes, we have various outreach and community service programs that aim to support those in need and promote the teachings of the Orthodox faith. These include charitable organizations, youth groups, and educational programs. We also have a strong tradition of hospitality, welcoming all who come to our church with love and compassion.

What is the history and background of your Greek Orthodox Church?

The Holy Metropolis of Mercia and the British Isles is part of the Eastern Orthodox Church, which traces its roots back to the early Christian Church in the eastern Mediterranean. The Greek Orthodox Church specifically has a long history that dates back to the apostles, and it has played an important role in the development of Christian theology and spirituality. In the UK, the Greek Orthodox Church has been present since the early 20th century, and it continues to serve the spiritual needs of the Greek community and others who are interested in the Orthodox faith.

Well besides the facts that they observe the old calendar, they do not have communion with any of the other Orthodox Churches, thus, no Apostolic Succession... no issues with the place.

The genuine true confession of Orthodoxy! The Bishop is very nice and open for discussions regarding the matters of faith. Please ignore the review that says that the services are like Islam. Christianism and Orthodoxy have nothing to do with Islam.
