Our host Geoff was very friendly and gave us good advice on where to eat out and go...the room was clean and very comfortable, i haven't slept right through the night for months!! Walkability: 20 mins maximum walk to the city centre, i recommend taking the Riverside route as its very pretty.

Absolutely lovely place to stay while visiting York. After arriving at a terrible place initially I had to desperately find somewhere else to stay. The Holly Lodge was the best choice I could have made. Comfy and clean rooms that I always felt happy coming back to at the end of the day. Additionally the owner is a very friendly man who looks after his guests. It all honestly turned my trip to York into a holiday I will always remember fondly. If I return, I will 100% try and book a room here again.

I've experienced a great communication and reassurance before our arrival from Geoff the host. He was willing to adjust a check-in time to meet our needs . Upon an arrival we were welcomed and had a little chat , then Geoff ushered us to the room. The room was very quirky full of original features ,dated but It was really what I like . TV, wifi ,sink in a room :-) i absolutely loved the vanity mirror for my makeup etc . No breakfast which didn't bother us as the city centre is literally 15 min walk away . There's a nice polish cafe round the corner from the Holly lodge. Overall this establishment is perfect for people that want to spend the whole day outside exploring and have a good comfortable nap after. Thank you We will be back . Jo and Mike

The room was stunning it felt like we was stopping in a national trust property. Geoff the owner was lovely & very friendly. It's in a great location from the city centre just 15 minutes walk down the river which is like walking back in time. It's 12 minutes by bus, the bus stop it right outside Holly lodge. There is parking on site. We will be definitely be coming back & I would recommend that you come & stay at this lovely property.
