We have a baby room, toddler room, and preschool room. Each room has age-appropriate toys, games, and activities that encourage learning through play.

What are your operating hours and do you offer extended care?

Our operating hours are from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday. We offer extended care for parents who need it, with early drop-off starting at 7:00 am and late pick-up until 6:30 pm. We also offer flexible attendance options to accommodate various schedules.

What is the staff to child ratio?

Our staff to child ratio meets or exceeds the requirements set by Ofsted. For babies aged 6 weeks to 2 years, the ratio is 1:3. For toddlers aged 2 to 3 years, the ratio is 1:4. For preschoolers aged 3 to 5 years, the ratio is 1:8.

What are your policies on health and safety?

At Hollies Day Nursery, the health and safety of our children is our top priority. We follow strict policies on hygiene, including handwashing, diapering, and cleaning. We also have regular fire drills, first aid training for staff, and secure entry and exit procedures. We have a designated person responsible for health and safety who ensures that all policies are followed.

What is your approach to discipline and behavior management?

We believe in positive reinforcement and praise as a way to encourage good behavior. We have clear rules and expectations for behavior, which are explained to the children in age-appropriate ways. We also use redirecting and calming techniques to address unwanted behavior. We work with parents to ensure consistency in behavior management between the nursery and home.

I echo what other people have said. The Mapperley nursery have really poor communication. I enquired over email, I had to chase up a response to my first email. I've now waited 11 days for a response to my query about having a look around the nursery. I'll take my business elsewhere. It's not a very good start when communication is that poor, a sign of things to come if my child did eventually attend this nursery? I'm not prepared to find out. Don't lean on your "outstanding" Ofsted report, word of mouth has a much greater impact in the grand scheme of things.

I absolutely love Hollies Nursery! My toddler and baby both attend and I am so grateful for how kind each member of staff are. Hollies offer a range of activities such as Spanish lessons, music sessions and yoga! I love that they mainly have woodnes toys to stimulate imaginative play, and they always have a creative activity theme going on, like their hairdresser corner! I highly recommend Hollies.

Our little one has been at Hollies for 3 years and absolute loves it. They're always busy making, baking, playing and learning - either in the nursery itself, or out and about at forest school. Our 4 year old always comes home buzzing from an active day telling us all about the amazing things he's done or learnt thanks to the fantastic staff consistently going above and beyond. We can't praise them enough, he's going to be gutted when he goes to school in September! They've been instrumental in turning our burping, dribbling, trumping 1 year old into a happy, engaged, enthusiastic, active, (still trumping) 4 year old little boy. Note: they use the "Famly" app to keep you updated on what your child has been eating, doing etc... which gives you great peace of mind, whether it's because you're nervous about leaving your little one for the first time, or just want to check if they're having baked beans two meals in a row (see comments re: 'trumping' above). 10 out of 10, would abandon my child there again, well done Hollies!

The staff here are great, especially preschool. They base their activities on the children's interests. They had an extension of their facilities a couple of years ago and it made the space much more open and bright and they have kitchens, and "real" things out for the children to role play with. They like natural toys over plastic. They offer free forest schools and my son adores them. He clearly loves all of his teachers and feels comfortable here. He comes home with a smile on his face every day and sometimes doesn't want to leave. He has made many close friendships here too. When I first viewed the baby room a few years ago it smelt of wee and I went back and it didn't on the second viewing. When I asked them about it they said they had literally just done one of the routine nappy changes for all the babies. That could explain why there was a bag of nappies on the floor for one person. They wear flip flops and no shoes because they take their shoes off to keep the floor clean for the babies. Rather than go barefoot it makes sense. They do activities and mass clean up after the kids have played which could explain the mess on the floor for a different review. I don't think it's fair to give a nursery such a poor review based on 1 viewing. My son has been here since he was a year old and they flexibility throughout covid was incredible, in comparison to other nurseries. They have free yoga, forest school and Spanish lessons for preschoolers. They take the kids into the local community on occasion to buy produce from the grocers and coop. Ignore the bad reviews.

Visited today as looking for a nursery for my 7 month old baby. No chance! do not send your child here. Absolute chaos going on younger staff seem exhausted it’s written all over their faces, wearing sports flip flops/sliders-so unprofessional not to mention a tripping hazard. We nearly tripped over the chaos of the toys on the floor, there was also a dirty bag of nappies open in the outdoor classroom. They are short staffed and unable to keep the children entertained. There was also a little boy crying holding his coat and staff ignored him. My baby cried at the chaos but loved his viewing at Kingfishers Nursery. Try to entice parents with extra classes available and then woodlands visits but can’t get the basics right. You need to do better couldn’t even make a good impression for a viewing 😷

Poor service and very bad communication. I requested unenrollment of my child within a month notice, promised a call back which never happened so had to call back myself weeks later. You feel like they almost don't care. There is definately a lot of room for improvement!
