I looked at loads of places to stay. This one quietly sings about its beautiful location and the photos don’t do it the justice it deserves. You are staying in the grounds of a charity that rehabilitates and re-homes ex racehorses. They do magnificent work. You look out over the paddocks up to the top of the mesmerising hills. It is timeless and (for a townie like me) so so peaceful. At dusk I saw a barn owl in flight - such a privilege - and on a clear night there are the stars everywhere. I sat outside surrounded by peace, horses grazing in the paddocks and cats for company. For 4 days I was immersed in a different, less frenetic world and it did me the world of good. I went walking and sightseeing (near to York and less than an hour from the fabulous coast) but coming back was the best. Pam and Kevin have a 24/7 life dedicated to the beautiful horses but will help you in any way they can. Don’t tarry - book it!
