Galaxians
We have worked exclusively with Ross Halden since 2012. Ross has produced all our recordings to date and is the unofficial fourth "Galaxian". Working with Ross at Hohm and his previous studio Ghost Town has been - and continues to be - a hugely rewarding and fun experience for us. Ross' knowledge and attention to detail really help get the best out of us in the studio, both in a production sense and in the creative process. Hohm Studio is a really positive environment to work in. It's well-designed, well-equipped, comfortable and spacious.

Ideally placed between Leeds and Bradford this studio is easy to get to and we are very lucky to have it West Yorkshire. Howlin' Ric & the Rocketeers will be returning to record our second album 100%.

I have worked with Ross on two separate occasions (he recorded our second record and then mixed our most recent one) and both sessions were an absolute delight. What made these experiences so enjoyable was that Ross possesses what I consider four essential qualities of a great engineer: 1) His technical expertise is unparalleled. 2) He is a good listener who was particularly adept at translating--and then improving upon--my non-technical (and sometimes poorly articulated) ideas. 3) He is a patient, methodical, and meticulous mixer who also made excellent arrangement decisions on several occasions when I needed them. 4) Should you find yourself at a creative impasse and in need of the input of an expert, he will always provide you with an honest but respectful appraisal of your efforts. I cannot recommend Hohm studio and engineer Ross Halden highly enough. Ross is a highly knowledgeable and professional audio engineer with a great selection of mics and some very impressive outboard gear built by his own fair hand. The studio is spacious and sounds very balanced with custom made acoustic treatment, that's also moveable for different sounds. As a professional audio engineer myself, it was excellent to work with a skilled engineer like Ross for tracking and then I recorded overdubs and mixed the record in my own studio. The mixes came together very easily as the source recordings from Hohm were so well recorded. Ross was very receptive to any changes we discussed during tracking. To top it off, the studio is also excellent value for money.

I wouldn't record anywhere other than here now. The space is open and airy yet cozy. The selection of classic top end hand built outboard gear is beyond impressive. The engineer is a fountain of knowledge regarding technical and stylistic requirements for just about any genre of music. Full marks.
