A grim looking building at the north end of Caledonian Road. I’ve never been a resident here, nor at any other of HM Prison establishments; thankfully so. Reports during COVID-19 times found that control conditions, including inmates having to spend up to 23 hours per day in their cells, had a devastating impact on their mental health. Apparently things haven’t improved much since then, due to staff shortages etc. I understand that the primary intent of prison is punishment, but we do need to give people the opportunity to rehabilitate.
