After breaking down on the M1. At great risk I decided to change the spare wheel on my wagon. The police wannabes turned up. Made me swap back to the flat tyre and limp a 14 tonne truck on a flat to the services some 2 miles away, after threatening me with a fine if I continued the unsafe act of changing the tyre. As matter of fact as this sounds, if jobsworth was 5 mins later. New tyre would of been on. I'd of been trucking to the nearest tyre place to get my flat fixed. Not limping down the left hand lane of the M1 at less than 10 MPH. My argument was. I all ready had the tyre off and was all ready bolting down the spare. It would of been quicker to continue bolting on the spare, than it was to take the spare off, then put back on the blown tyre. Shutting the M1 down to 3 lanes and 40mph at 8am on a weekday. I'm only giving one star because i cant give a zero. These guys have no concept of health and safety, the danger they caused that day was unreal. Yes I agree, changing a tyre on the m1 is dangerous. But smart motorways don't work and the danger I was forced into that day was more than the act of changing a tyre.
