I did the 3 day tour to Isle of Skye from Inverness. The tour guide was Harrison and he was FANTASTIC. I highly recommend this tour, and company. He was an excellent guide, providing a mix of Scottish history, folk stories, and scientific information. He took the time to get to know everyone on the trip and made it fun for everyone. This trip took me to all of the sites in Scotland I wanted to see, including the Jacobite Steam Train, Isle of Skye, Castles, Clava Cairns, etc. If you can get Harrison as your guide you will be very lucky, he's the best!

(Translated by Google) We booked the 1-day Outlander Explorer Tour: A great tour for one day! Of course you could spend even longer at each spot, but the planned times are sufficient. We booked entry to Doune Castle, it was worth it! You also get an audio guide with extra information about Outlander. At Blackness Castle we were on the beach instead of in the castle, also worth seeing! Jada was a super nice travel companion who told us many little stories on the journey. You spend a lot of time in the car, but very well planned for the day.

We had a fantastic time on the Isle of Skye and the Highlands tour with Tom & Keiron. Tom is an awesome storyteller. They were both friendly and flexible - giving us the best of all experiences. We traveled with three kids and my elderly parents and everyone loved it. Thanks so much!

I was delayed in posting this review, but it is very well deserved. We were very happy with the tours and customer service provided by Highland Explorer Tours. We were booked for the Jacobite Train Tour, but the ScotRail strike made the train ride unavailable. Highland Explorer emailed us with three options to accommodate what was beyond their control. We were able to book a different tour, get a refund, or go on the tour without the train and with a 50% refund. I almost canceled because we were going on another tour to the Highlands, but we went anyway. I am so happy that we did. Owen, our tour guide, went out of his way to make up for the loss of the ride on the Jacobite train. You could tell that he put thought into giving us a memorable experience in the Highlands. Not only was I not disappointed, I think that we had an even better experience because of the effort by this guide. Sometimes tours rush you from place to place with guides who talk incessantly, sharing volumes of sometimes meaningless information, which distracts from the experience. While driving, Owen spoke about the sites we visited, giving information and his own thoughts on historical events. I had the feeling that he was a history major because he demonstrated a depth of knowledge and love of Scottish history. He took breaks with Scottish music and even a Harry soundtrack, when appropriate. He used the extra time created by the train cancellation to give us extra time at such wonderful locations, which included the Glenfinnan Viaduct and Loch Shiel, The Three Sisters of Glencoe, and the Village of Mallaig. He left us to explore and experience these wonderful.places on our own, having discussed them on the bus. It was such a pleasure to fully enjoy these wonderful places during a one day tour. I highly recommend that you check out Highland Explorer tours.

We took a one day trip from Edinburgh to Loch Ness, Glencoe and highlands. Trip was amazing and properly planned. Our guide Steven, sorry Steven B (B for Better as he says) was awesome. He made the trip more fun and enjoyable. Before booking the trip, we were bit hesitant but it came out as very good decision and credit goes to Steven B apart from the beauty Scottish highland holds.

It's a bummer reading all the positive reviews for this company because it's an insight to what our experience could have been. We booked the Jacobite train tour, which is roughly a 4-hour bus ride into the highlands, a 2-hour train ride, and another 4-hour return bus trip. The company books out all 30 seats of their transit van, with no organization to the seating, which causes a bit of a scrum when boarding to get seats with your party. We were one of the earlier couples there and were lucky enough to get seats together initially, but other couples did not fare as well. However, after the bus experienced problems, we had to de-board and were delayed about an hour while they fetched another transit van from their depot. When re-boarding the replacement bus, my partner and I were among the odd ones out. I ended up in a spare seat at the front of the bus, and my partner had to take another spare seat 7 rows back on the rear bench. I was unimpressed with the guide's indifferent take, which was basically, "It's an opportunity to make new friends." Since most of the day is the bus ride, it really soured the experience that my partner and I couldn't experience the tour together. I added an extra star because the train ride itself was lovely, and on the return trip, the bus stopped to see some highland coos, and any outing involving coos deserves more than a 1-star rating. However, between the seating and the van issues, the company itself does not seem to have its logistics together completely. I don't think I would use them again if given the choice.
