We were visiting Manchester from NY for our son’s soccer tour. We experienced excellent food and service that went above and beyond our dinner. I had left my bag at the restaurant and the owner, Richard, without hesitation mailed it back home to me as promised since I was leaving for the states the following day. Richard and Higher Ground are first class and I highly recommend a visit to this amazing restaurant!

We had a great meal - we could have ordered the whole menu. The restaurant felt busy, with a great buzz without feeling overwhelming. There are many great small plates restaurants now in Manchester, but higher ground has a point of difference - the food, which has a clear ‘where the light gets in’ influence. Highly recommend

We were really underwhelmed. The food lacked flavour and seasoning, there was a huge wait between courses, our table wasn’t ready when we arrived and we were served our wine whilst waiting on a bench, and no restaurant should leave a bottle of white wine on the table without a wine bucket/chiller! Head to the likes of Climat or Erst instead… they are way ahead on both food and service. Specifically on the food, the pork was not seasoned at all and came with gelatinous porridgy lentils. Both the pasta and fish were cold and again not tasty. The Cheese tart just tasted like butter and cheese with no finesse.
