We really loved our stay at High Dalby House. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful. It was great to have access to the wonderful conservatory and it's views over the amazing garden. The setting of High Dalby House is very special as it is situated in the heart of Dalby Forest. On top of that, its gardens extend to six acres and includes a stream, a large pond, numerous bridges and pathways. Ian does an amazing job keeping this looking so good, and he is actively working to make it better all the time. I honestly could have enjoyed just staying in the garden and relaxing, and when we come back we may well do this one day. We enjoyed a day out to Flamborough Head with its Lighthouse and accessible coastline. We also enjoyed the lovely seaside town of Filey which seems to have retained much of its heyday magic making it quite different to some other competitors. We hope to come back again to visit Bempton Cliffs Seabird Centre. Pickering Castle is an excellent example of a stone built mot and bailey castle and the staff there were excellent at making us laugh on a day when the weather was not ideal. Thornton Le Dale is very pretty with lovely walks and the most interesting water engineering I have seen in a while. And Pickering has an interesting selection of shops and we can highly recommend its only Italian restaurant, Figaros. We had a lovely evening meal there and we were very well looked after. Overall we cannot recommend High Dalby House highly enough as a wonderful place to take a break and enjoy nature.
