  Roger, Naomi & Jackie have been absolutely fantastic and supportive. The service was fantastic and the way they looked after my mom & I from the start was brilliant. They are very welcoming and went above and beyond for us. I asked if I could spend time on Father's day with my Dad in the Chapel and Naomi & Roger made it happen without hesitation.   A very professional yet sympathetic and sincere service the staff displayed empathy to our bereaved family members that helped us through a very difficult and sad time for us with the loss of our dear dad and grandad.   Sadly we recently had to arrange a funeral for my father, we contacted several other local funeral directors but it was Roger and Naomi's comforting and confident response that made our decision easy. Their costs were completely transparent with no added extra expenses which we found not to be the case with other directors Having never arranged a funeral before, a daunting task was made so much easier as everything was taken care of by Roger, from booking the church, crematorium, order of service, cars, flowers ,casket, and taking great care and respect of our dad whilst in their care. The actual funeral day went exactly as planned thanks to Greggs (funeral director) meticulous planning. His calm and dignified manner was truly appreciated All through the process everyone from Hicktons Funeral Directors were always kind respectful and nothing was to much trouble. I would not hesitate in recommending Hicktons

  Our family used Hickton funeral directors recently for my Nan's final journey. From the very first inquiry call I made to them, I spoke to the lovely Laura in their Penn branch, who always made me smile whenever we spoke on the phone, to Greg coming to see us and being so supportive, and Roger at the Castle Bromwich branch, who gave us such warmth while seeing Nan in the chapel of rest. The whole way through the process everyone at Hicktons were amazing and they treated my Nan and our family with the upmost respect at all times. A massive thank you to all those involved, from my heart, you made my Nan's final journey so special from start to finish.

  I wish to complement the outstanding service by Hickton Family Funeral Directors, Castle Bromwich, who handled the funeral of my mother the late Mrs Elizabeth Tarbet at Woodlands Crematorium on 19th October 2020. Every aspect was outstanding from the outset: including when mother sadly past away at home in the early hours of 7th October 2020 the call-out service exceeded my expectations of arriving well within the hour of my making the initial phone call. This outstanding service continued at each stage throughout which was far superior to when my late father passed away in Cardiff in 2013 at which time I also had responsibility for his funeral handled by a funeral directors in that city; when although both my mother and father’s funerals were covered by the same Golden Charter pre-paid funeral plans I consider every aspects of the service received by Hickton was superior. I will detail this superior service as follows: 1/ In the case of the service card for my father’s funeral the only input the Cardiff funeral directors had towards this was to provide me with the phone number of a local printers and it was then left to me to contact this company over the design and also meet the expense of this out of my own pocket! Whereas Hickton handled every aspect of the service card design once I had emailed the photos and wording which the family and I had agreed upon, together with Hickton meeting the expense of this printing service out of the pre-paid plan. 2/ The same was also the case with ordering the wreath: in that the Cardiff funeral directors’ only input was to recommend a local florists and again I was left to attend to this myself and meet the cost out of my own pocket; whereas Hickton produced a broacher when I initially attended the office in Castle Bromwich and once I had chosen a wreath every aspect was taken care of including the expense of this again being met out of the pre-paid plan. 3/ Although both pre-paid funeral plans were taken out by my parents about 10 years ago at a cost of £3,515.00 each, and there was more than 7 years separating my mother’s and father’s funerals during which time the cost of a funeral must presumably have increased due to inflation, yet I received no costing from the Cardiff funeral directors whiich simply pocketed the whole outlay on the pre-paid plan; whereas, in the case of Hickton, I received full breakdown of costing including a refund of £802.82 on the pre-paid plan, and given that in the case of the Cardiff funeral directors I had to pay myself for the service card and the wreath, together with the fact inflationary increases of 7 years separated the two funerals, I consider this amounted to excellent value for the service provided when every aspect of the funeral was taken care of. It is also relevant that my mother passed away at home whereas in the case of my father this was in hospital in Cardiff which meant there was a greater workload by Hickton including an over-night call out together with a GP’s examination at the funeral home, neither of which would have been necessary in the case of my father’s hospital death. All in all therefore I would not hesitate in commending the service my family received from Hickton which at every stage was superior to the service of the Cardiff funeral directors. And I particularly commend the friendly, personalized service of Mr Roger Dagnall the manager at Castle Bromwich which included his having to chase up the GP to make the examination due to the surgery dragging their feet and not responding in a reasonable time frame given that the surgery were fully aware of the funeral’s date.
