After receiving recommendations on facebook we recently took in a new suit jacket for sleeve shortening along with my wifes new jumpsuit for leg shortening, both items purchased for a wedding. The seamstree who was in that day didn't seem very sure about what she was doing & didn't really inspire confidence. Once measured and pinned we left to await a collection text. A couple of days later the text arrived and i went to collect both items, as it was close to closing time we took them home to try them. First complaint was that both item where just screwed up in a carrier bag but that was the least of the problems, my jackets sleeves where slightly different lengths and ruttled up as though they where stiched too tight, my wifes jumpsuit was a totally different level of shodiness in the fact that not only was the stitching uneven but also one leg almost an inch longer than the other, the longest being the correct length. The following morning we returned too the shop and a different lady was in who didn't seem impressed with what she saw. She stated my jacket could be made right (which it was) and also that the jumpsuit could be corrected (even though there was less than a quarter of an inch of hem left? We gave her the benefit of the doubt and gave her a chance to correct the problem. 3 days later we returned (less than a week before the wedding) to find that when my wife put the outfit on it was still different lengths as we had thought it would be. We then where offered a refund on the alteration (£12) but had to then ask what about the cost of the outfit as it was ruined? Eventually after the lady in the shop speaking with the owner it was agreed to refund the outfit cost too. We then had to frantically start searching for a replacement outfit on a bank holiday weekend that still needed to be altered only a few short days before the wedding day. Overall not a good experience and very poor quality of workmanship not good when you pay good money out for items of clothing to be worried.

Had stupidly ironed a hole in my dress that I was wearing for a wedding. The ladies at Hey Ho Let's Sew were amazing and sorted it for me on the day! Couldn't even tell that any alterations had been done. Highly recommended.

Never been so humiliated in my life, went in for a dress to be altered and was patted on the stomach by a member of staff and asked when am I due. I suffer with endometriosis and was having a bad flare up at the time which I explained and I tried to laugh it off but inside i was so embarrassed. Then commenced to go and tell her colleague I've just accused her of being pregnant, right in front of me. I'm not a person to be confrontational but as soon as I left the shop I was in tears and have come home so upset. I'm sorry but it's just not on to say things like this to people you don't know. Gave 2 stars because the lady did my dress there and then which I appreciated

I visited Hey ho let's sew first thing this 24th June. I was there on opening at 9.30am. All I wanted was 2meters of brown leather thonging. To say these ladies went above and beyond is an understatement. Unfortunately they only had the leather in black, so an alternative was looked for. In every drawer, every nook and cranny. They came across a cream cord, which i said if I can dye it using coffee I could probably get away with it. Next minute a strong black coffee was made by these marvelous ladies, and a length of cord dropped in to see the results. It worked the colour was perfect. So I said two meters please although I felt I should be buying the roll after all the effort the ladies went too. Did the efforts and kindness stop there No the first measure of 2 meters had a defect, so another 2 meters was measured, put into a waterproof bag along with the coffee so the cord would be perfect once home. Plus the defect 2 meters was given to me. I went to pay the cost all of 40p, the lady spotted the £2 coin i had handed her was a collectable and gave it me back. A customer who had just come into the shop, then paid the 40p for me because I said i would have had to nip to my car at the front of the shop for a £1 coin. If if you need sewing supplies please please check this awesome shop out first. The service and helpfulness is above and beyond. 1st class.
