My 96 year old vulnerable beloved gramma with limited mobility had a care line alarm for emergency help. Her name was Margaret McKeever. In the early hours of 16 th August 2017 ,she activated her alarm due to a fire in her bedroom. The call was answered, but surprisingly the person answering the call seemed apparently unable to identify the alarm as being a fire alarm. When it finally registered, she then put my grandma ,who was on the floor in a burning room screaming, burning and begging for help ,on hold for a whole five minutes.. before returning to the phone. That’s not care, in my opinion it’s negligence. She died alone and scared. The coroner instructed herts care to provide an explanation to her family and then and to report what changes were they making to their processes to the coroner too. To date we have had no response. So Herts “care,” what are you doing to make sure this never happens again ??????
