Warning to passengers travelling north. I have just been given a penalty charge because I tapped in with my credit card at this station and travelled to Stevenage only to find out that you can’t tap out in this direction (£66 penalty) There are no signs at Hertford North to inform passengers of this.

One of the worst train services I've ever used in my life. I've been here a few times and every time the trains are cancelled or delayed. If you are trying to get to Stevenage you will be better of getting the bus and if you're going to London then get the train from Hertford East.
