Had a wonderful 80th birthday celebration here for my Dad, last weekend of April 2023. It's the owners second year, having bought this lovely complex of barns and ancient farmhouse in 2021. The bedrooms are lovely - comfortable and well appointed with a luxury feel. We hired all the cottages and in each were fresh home-baked brownies, local farm fresh milk in glass bottles, ground coffee for cafetieres, plus teabags and milk. Not forgetting a lovely birthday card and gift for my Dad! Nothing was too much trouble and the owners are a total delight. Completely recommend

Absolutely wonderful - stunning countryside; the cottages have so much attention to detail, are comfortable and extremely clean, and if you have kids, this is the place for them: goats, chickens and giant rabbits, and a fabulous play area in the open barn. Your hosts are the most wonderful people too. Cannot recommend highly enough. ❤️

We enjoyed a wonderful week at Hermitage Farm last summer and are heading back for another week this year! The cottages are comfortable and well appointed, with gorgeous views. My daughter loved the play barn and being close to the animals, especially Sam the dog! The welcome brownies were absolutely delicious as well! Very close to Alton Towers and lots of other things to do locally including children's farm, potteries, and the beautiful Peak District. Very highly recommended, although would almost like to keep it a secret for myself!!

What a great find this was. We needed a bed and breakfast for a night and I rang the owner after finding the family room suitable on Google Maps. He was busy on the farm and told me he'd ring back in 30 minutes, which he did. We arrived on a stormy night (thanks storm Ciara) and I found reception and had to ring a mobile number which wasn't a problem. This is a working farm. The owner was friendly and pleasant, booked us in and asked what time we'd like breakfast and then took us to our room. The room was clean and very warm. The decor, although very dated, wasn't worn or tired, just really in keeping with a working farm, I guess. I can live with that when all I need are sleeping and toilet facilities for a family of four! It had a double bunk around three feet away from our double bed. There was a large sofa that possibly doubled into a sleeper and two arm chairs. There was a kettle with some coffee and tea and a selection of free snacks which was lovely. There was also a small TV. The bathroom was sizable with a generous shower cubicle, toilet and hand basin. All towels and linen included. We had our own key, which meant arriving back after our family party at 11pm wasn't an issue. We went for breakfast at 8.30 sharp as agreed and a lovely lady showed us into the dining room. I felt like I was back in my Mum's! Dark beams, horse brasses, shiney brass kettles and candlesticks everywhere. I found it lovely and quaint. The table and crockery were set out immaculately with all the necessary glasses, cups and plates needed for the superb breakfast on offer. My daughter had cereal and toast and we three had a cooked breakfast. Fresh ground coffee, our choice of what type of egg we'd like on our fried breakfast, glorious bacon. Heaven. The only downside was the dining room was rather chilly. I hope this farm keeps this B&B going. We don't have to stay over often, but we will again.

Nice old traditionally furnished buildings with lovely views over the valley, a bit neglected garden. Nothing really to do there. Shower was broken. The superior family room was very small with one chair for 4 and no sitting area, even communal. The flat screen TV was 16 inch with only free view channels. Wi-Fi just about working half the time. Luckily for me I could use my own data allowance. "Breakfast included" was very limited - cereals and sweet toast /croissants. No cheeses or meats offered. Optional English breakfast is £6.50 pp. And be prepared for a manure smell all the time - it is a working farm as indicated in the name. Again on the flip side the hosts seem to be nice people and the price was low.
