One of the Victorian gun batteries that line the shore of Gunners Park, Shoeburyness. The battery is a listed monument and has no public access and can only be viewed from the outside. Gunners Park used to belong to the Military and was used for weapons development from mid Victorian times through to World War II. This paricular battery had cannon mounted on top which fired out over the Maplin Sands mud flats to develop artillery. Further details are available on Southend Borough Council website.
