May 2022: The Papal Monument marks the spot that Pope John Paul II celebrated mass to 250,000 people, on 31st May 1982. I was 7 years old and I was there. The Monument was placed a year later in 1983 and is a 16.5 ton granite boulder. The black & white photos are courtesy of the Manchester Evening News. 31/05/1982: I was there, aged 7 years old.
