    In response to seeing others i'm going to add some extra information & perspective. I've been registered here since 2017, my University experience wasn't exactly "standard" to say the least and I've got a good sense of surgery developments especially since post-pandemic. It's good that we can get an appointment even if its in a couple of weeks - in my experience staff will do their best and liase with you, you just need to communicate with equal respect. Some nurses could probably do with external mental health training, but they do their best. It is good that they've brought in mental health coordinators, but it seems that these might be relatively short fixed-term contracts as the one I spoke to frequently and helped me across final year left and I had to ring up myself to discover that. If you experience difficulties, its probably due to the wider NHS problem... all surgeries are underfunded, understaffed, nobody knows what they can do any more. One of the practitioners have been amazing in helping me with other physical conditions & was great in being authentic in what they can or cannot do, and what has been taken away from the NHS as a whole. So, don't get unreasonably angry at the staff, they are employed in a broken system - get annoyed at the wider issue, because its all over the country. Only one start deducted because it would be nice to see better training in mental health, particularly around students and young people (e.g. PICT service training if available/better communication for secondary care), and for practitioners to generally be slightly more informed on psychological approaches if possible. But generally speaking, everyone does do what they feel able to do, and have the resources to do, amidst current socioeconomic failures and chronic underfunding.

    I have been registered with the Health Centre since 2019, when I enrolled at the University of Sussex. In that time I have had many telephone appointments, and a couple of in-person appointments. The reception team are quick and efficient, and although it takes a while on hold during peak hours (8.30am for example) the staff are quick and understanding once you get through. All of the nurses who have been assigned to me, in addition to Dr Tredgold, have been understanding, efficient, and provided accurate diagnoses and treatments. On the odd occasion where there has been an issue with a prescription, or something via an external provider, the centre have been most helpful. The admin team have also been helpful in the provision of evidence of conditions as and when required by the University. Despite the climate of the NHS and it’s consistent underfunding, I would recommend this centre as a professional and competent provider. Thank you for your continued help.

    I visited last year about some symptoms I was experiencing. I wasn't taken seriously and I was told that I had to experience the symptoms for 6 months before they would do anything helpful about it, because they didn't believe there was anything wrong with me. After 6 months I finally received the correct testing I had been asking for from the beginning, which revealed that I did in fact have a serious health problem. I didn't trust them to care for my health after this so I switched to a different health centre. Within a month I was tested fully (which also revealed that the uni health centre didn't conduct a full test after all!) and receiving treatment, which has improved my quality of life massively. I had to suffer for over half a year which massively impacted all areas of my life, because the nurses and my GP at the uni health centre refused to listen to me. Looking at other reviews, this appears to be the case for many people. The service is very obviously overworked, but that doesn't justify negligence and a complete lack of care for the people they are supposed to look after.

    Don't bother registering here if you're after a GP appointment. Multiple occasions now where I booked a GP appointment, only for them to just not show up. Massive waste of time. They barely provide healthcare.

    Getting an appointment is quite difficult because it is clearly underfunded and understaffed. The wait for my appointment was long- was waiting for over 20 minutes, over 10 past when my appointment was meant to be. The nurse (Sarah) I had was super lovely. She knew that I was stressed and a little scared so she distracted me which helped calm me down. I had to have a phone consultation to get my implant out which was annoying. The nurse I had the phone consultation with was quite judgemental about my choice not to go onto another form of birth control which is my choice.

    Registering with this go should come with a warning: they do not care about you at all. Don’t even bother if you have a mental health issue. Absolutely no care or respect. Received the most passive aggressive messages ever after missing one phone appointment BECAUSE of my poor mental health. They didn’t even try calling a second time, never in my life have I been given such little opportunity especially when they know I’m struggling with mental health and even had to get someone else to make my appointment for me. The one time I did call receptionists were exceptionally rude. On another occasion, my partner had a cut that required stitches and was told by the receptionist to buy steri-strips and hope for the best. I’m now planning on going back to my home gp since they actually care about their patients.

    Good luck to anyone who ends up seeing Vicki Lovell the mental health coordinator. She repeatedly ignored my girlfriend who had attempted overdosing and had self harmed all on campus. She missed one appointment because she was anxious and was threatened to cancel all help she was being given, which was basically nothing anyways. She then lied and said I wasn't able to see her at all when I was willing to provide evidence of my girlfriends mental health and then refused to make a referral for her to a mental health service. I then had to take things into my own unqualified hands along with the amazing support of the other mental health coordinator Kristina Usaite who has not unfortunately left i'm assuming out of shame in regards to her colleague. In less than a month my girlfriend was formally diagnosed with EUPD, Depression, Anxiety and an Eating Disorder by the top mental health service in Brighton and is receiving the help she needs. If you are coming here requiring specific help mental health wise, you'd be better off self medicating with kitchen herbs than seeing these clowns.
