Had a problem with my rear brakes. Took the car for a free brake check to a large independent garage (starts with an H, ends in ORDS)! Was advised it needed rear discs, pads and a calliper, all in £448! Extortionate. So I got a quote from ‘The Garage’. Which was very reasonable, so I booked the car in for the work to be done. Got a call back after dropping the car off and was told it didn’t need a new calliper just pads and discs. It’s nice to know there are still honest garages trading. Great communication, great turnaround and a great price. Will definitely use them again, thank you for your honesty :-). Service: Brake service & repair

After having unexpected car trouble when visiting York for the weekend, we visited the garage closest to our accommodation to get some help. We were so lucky to come across Jeff and Andy at The Garage Tyre and Autocare. They were so kind to us and quickly helped us to get our car sorted. They talked us through the potential issues, so we left feeling fully informed and very pleased with the friendly and efficient service we had received. Had a bit of a immediate issue with the breaks on my wife's car. As the car is relied on so I gave The Garage a call on the off chance they could fit it in. They were able to source the parts and fit them the same day for a very fair price. From the call, to dropping the car off, to picking it up I felt like I was in good honest hands. Very happy and will definitly go back when the need arises. 17/3/23 update; Posted my initial review above three years ago and have been a customer since. Very recently I had some concerns with my brakes and they managed to get me in the next day and all fixed. Yesterday the dust guard on the front wheel came loose and again they managed to fit me in and sort the problem. I honestly wouldn't recommend anything I don't stand by and The Garage continues to be the only place I'll take my car, and when asked the only place I'd send people.

My nephew recommended using this garage, he'd used a few in York previously and he found you guys back in 2016 and has used you since. I've taken my car in a few times and the work has always been completed to a very high standard, the pricing is great and I've always felt welcome whenever I've been in.
