  great dessert place! I have had three of their delicious desserts: lemon tart (beautifully presented), apple tarts (nice warm, sugary apple slices with ice cream), and cream brûlée (glazed with warm and fabulously browned sugar crust). P.S. I wish they served light breakfast sets like “croissants and coffee”. I think they only have heavy breakfast “set” (~$16 USD for a traditional english breakfast, plus croissant and plus coffee/tea)

  The afternoon tea seated area is tucked away, separate from all other hotel foyer activities. Service was great and the food was of good quality. I find this with a lot of places, I wish they did Assam tea. This is my preference over English Breakfast tea. Dietary restrictions: We were asked if we had any allergies, and the menu offered a vegan alternative afternoon tea.

  I had booked this restaurant for my birthday, as it is close to the theatre and the menu looked decent. We were a party of 9, and there were options suitable for everyone. The table was booked for 5pm, but wasn’t ready for us until 5.15pm. We sat down and ordered drinks and food, all seemed ok. The starters came and they were quite underwhelming. The Caesar salad that my brother ordered, did not come with any anchovies. They took his dish away and brought it back with 2 fried, rock solid anchovies. My brother was not impressed. My friends chicken satay arrived, and the chicken was grey. That is just 2 disappointing starter dishes. Then, a few more drinks were ordered. The waitress came, and put down the pint of beer first. As she did so, she must have lost her balance and the prosecco that was on her tray went all over my brother. His gilet and sweatshirt were soaked, as were his jeans. There was no apology and the waitress was told to leave. It took a while before anyone came to clear up. Again, bare in mind, no apology. Finally things were cleared up. But no one thought to take away our empty starter dishes. Some sort of manager (not particularly professional and appeared to have been drinking) came over. We asked for somewhere to dry my brothers clothes off, but we were told there wasn’t anywhere we could do this. So he was expected to sit there soaked all evening with no apology. Then a pint of beer was just plonked beside him, with no explanation. We asked again for my brothers clothes to be dried, because there was no way, in a hotel, that there was not a dry cleaning or drying facility. We managed to get his stuff dried. The mains came. We ordered more drinks. The mains were all extremely disappointing. It was all relatively simple food that was ordered. The burgers were all cold. The veggie burger was cold but burnt. The anchovies on the Caesar salad were fried and rock hard again. No drinks arrived. Eventually, after the most awful service and food, we left without paying. We explained to the manager and to security that we would not be paying due to this horrendous experience. I would not recommend this place, nor will I be visiting ever again. If I could give this restaurant a lower rating, then I would. I didn't get any pictures of the food, as there was nothing worth taking pictures of.

  Took my grandson for the festive afternoon tea and was quite disappointed. For the cost of this you expected a little bit more care. Children's goody bag not as described, yes there was a toy but everything else was missing. The food arrived quite promptly but we had no choice of brown or white for the sandwiches. They didn't give you anything to eat your prawn cocktail with. Then started the wait for the tea. Grandsons hot chocolate arrived promptly but after 10 mins I had to go and ask for my tea. After 20 mins I then had to go and ask for my grandsons tea. They then brought out the wrong tea for him and after bringing out the wrong one yet again second time round we gave up and just took it. Later I had to chase somebody down in order to order more tea, nobody checked to see if it was required or even asked if the food was OK. I also had to go and find some one to pay the bill. The place wasn't busy yet the waiting staff just hung around by the door without actually checking to see if you wanted anything. Twice they brought somebody else's order to our table. On top of that they had the cheek to add a service charge to the bill of an extra £7!!!! Nowhere did it say that I had to pay this charge and I find it astonishing that this was added seen as the service was virtually invisible. I saved up for months to take my grandson here and it was a huge disappointment. They have replied to my e mail and have sorted this out though... the staff need some re training...
