At Hawkhill Medical Centre, we offer personalized travel consultations where our healthcare professionals will assess your travel itinerary and recommend the necessary vaccinations and medications for your specific destination. We follow the guidelines set by the National Travel Health Network and Centre (NaTHNaC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to ensure your health and safety while traveling.

Are your healthcare professionals certified and experienced in travel medicine?

Yes, our healthcare professionals at Hawkhill Medical Centre are certified and experienced in travel medicine. They have undergone specialized training in travel health and regularly attend continuing education courses to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field.

What other services do you offer besides vaccinations?

In addition to vaccinations and travel consultations, we offer a range of other healthcare services at Hawkhill Medical Centre. These include general medical consultations, health screenings, chronic disease management, and minor surgical procedures. We also have an on-site pharmacy for your convenience.

How far in advance should I book an appointment before my trip?

We recommend booking a travel consultation with us as early as possible, ideally at least 4-6 weeks before your trip. Years ago, Hawkhill medical practice was a great surgery. Since covid, it’s hard to get an appointment and to see doctor.

The doctors are all really nice people, just have to be quick calling for an appointment. If not try later for any cancellations. Edit: Dylan is the most helpful person! Thanks so much for your helpfulness evrrytime I call!

Staff are professional for the most part and are making the best of a dire situation. My biggest critique is the system for booking appointments. I think it would be more efficient to offer appointments as they become available rather than a daily battle royale between 8 and 9am (took me a month to get a routine appointment even though I was calling 3-4 times per week.) I’m not a practice manager and there might be a good reason why they do it this way, but I don’t see it. I’ve tried signing up to the electronic booking service twice without any success.

Dr Zafar is absolutely terrible- do not go to him if you’re having mental health issues. He wrote on my sick note that my uni should stop asking them for sick notes (an irrelevant input that would only hurt my case) and then wouldn’t re-prescribe my second medication (prescribed originally by another doctor). Now I need to ask another doctor to re-do the letter and re-prescribe my meds. If you’re calling for mental health and you get Dr Zafar, you’re better just putting the phone down and ringing again at 8.30 the next morning to get literally anyone else.

My mother was very Unwell and she could not have got a better service from Hawkhill practice. Both Dr Cowie and Dr Munro phoned her on a regular basis, to check up on her and she got swift appointments when needed. Excellent. My mother has said it’s the kindest, most caring and nicest medical practice.

For me the practice is fantastic, especially Dr Bowie if it wasn't for her I wouldn't have gotten all the help and treatments I've needed. She is a fantastic Doctor. Yes it's hard to get an appointment and they do need a queuing system for phone calls so it makes things easier and have more than 1 person manning the phones first thing. Other than that great
