FAQ

What types of gardening tools and equipment are available for use at your community garden?

At Hawbush Community Gardens, we provide a variety of gardening tools and equipment for our members to use. This includes shovels, rakes, hoes, watering cans, and more. We also have raised garden beds and compost bins available for use.

How is the community garden maintained and who is responsible for upkeep?

Our community garden is maintained by our members, who are responsible for the upkeep of their own garden plots. We also have a team of volunteers who help with general maintenance tasks such as weeding, pruning, and watering common areas. Additionally, we have a garden manager who oversees the operations of the garden.

Are there any restrictions on what can be grown in the garden?

As a community garden, we welcome a wide variety of plants and vegetables. However, we do ask that all members follow our guidelines and refrain from growing invasive species or plants that may be harmful to other gardens. We also encourage members to prioritize growing organic, non-GMO produce.

How often are community events held, such as workshops or social gatherings?

We hold community events throughout the year, including workshops, social gatherings, and seasonal celebrations. The frequency of these events varies depending on the season and availability of volunteers. We encourage all members to participate and share their knowledge and skills with the community.

Is there a fee or membership required to participate in the community garden?

Yes, there is a small annual fee to become a member of Hawbush Community Gardens. This helps cover the cost of maintaining the garden and purchasing necessary supplies. Membership also grants access to a garden plot, as well as the use of our shared tools and equipment. We welcome all members of the community to join and participate in our garden.
