I used Hatton Jewells for new jewelry a few years back and they were helpful, so I asked them to do a small job recently: transforming old fashion earrings into a more modern fitting. The experience surprisingly unpleasant, from extreme rigidity on appointments, to lack of advice on various questions, to dismissing my concerns about the earrings being too loose, to getting the sigh of dispair when asking to redo something... I get the point that the job was small but still. Of course, to add pain to injury, the fittings WERE too loose, and I DID lose one of the earrings after only a few days. Which was truly heartbreaking as these family heirlooms can’t be replaced. Was it their fault? Technically they will argue that I didn’t specifically ask to tighten them… so I don’t have time to argue. But still, NEVER again.
