We attended a beautiful wedding here yesterday. The venue is stunning and well looked after. The majority of staff were very friendly and welcoming but there was a younger lady who clearly didn’t want to be there and didn’t seem to try to hide the fact. During the wedding breakfast simple requests for example asking for more butter was met with a huff. The same continued throughout the evening when ordering drinks from the bar. The biggest gripe however was that whenever you left a drink unattended on your table to go and dance or use the facilities you’d come back to no drink this happened on a number of occasions I thought maybe there was only a sip left or they thought it was melted ice. We got one final round at 11:15 as the wedding finished at midnight but we had taxis booked just before. We’d got no more than half way through our drinks when we decided to go up for one last dance at about 11:30. We came back to the table at 11:45 to see all drinks had been cleared despite not one person finishing their drink yet and the wedding not even being over yet ! The table next to us said the young girl took them but she was no where to be seen unfortunately otherwise we would have said something. Put a dampener on an otherwise lovely day.

Top notch service and setting for my son's recent wedding. Everything was lovely. The super king-size bed was amazing. If I had one very small niggle it was the lack of black pudding with our full English. Iknow it's not for everyone but it would have got you 5 stars!

Possibly the finest venue in Essex and beyond. I had the pleasure of attending The Glitter Ball last Friday in aid of the new Cambridge Childrens Hospital. The venue looked stunning and food and service was first class. When catering on a large scale, not all establishments get it right. From the starter to the cheese board, the food was spot on. All that aside, no mater how good the food is, if the service is not right everything is let down. The event staff were VERY attentive and kept everything flowing smoothly and silently. Thank you for a great evening and we'll done to all concerned...

Where do I start! Hatfield place is an absolutely beautiful venue so picturesque and the perfect place to have a wedding. We got married on the 3rd of September and our day couldn’t have been any more perfect. I arrived early Saturday morning to be greeted by Ian the owner who was extremely helpful followed by Lisa who was also very helpful and very welcoming. Lisa was there for anything we needed throughout the morning and then Michelle arrived mid morning and they both ran the whole day. Our day ran so smoothly and Michelle and her team made sure every small detail we had planned were executed exactly when I had asked for them too. I had read a couple of reviews regarding the lack of communication between couples and the venue and how this spoilt their day, I do agree with a few comments around the communication as I too did find I was waiting longer than expected for a reply to my emails however I feel this did not affect our wedding day in anyway. It was clear that all emails I was sending were read and acted upon, so for me the venue just need to monitor their emails more and just send an acknowledgment reply to avoid small unnecessary stresses for future bride and grooms! I would highly recommend Hatfield Place and I thank Michelle, Lisa and all the staff for making our day so perfect!

It was a lovely venue, and we had a great day. However, the lack of communication from Michelle was atrocious. We had their vendors chasing us for answers that Michelle should have answered. She didn’t turn up until midday on our wedding day and left earlier in the night, and then wasn’t present the next day. The cleaners had to let us in to the venue to collect our belongings. We would have meetings before the wedding with Michelle and were promised info, notes etc, but after ten+ emails and months flying by, we still wouldn’t hear back. Uncharacteristically the only stressful thing about the wedding was the lack of communication from the venue, and organisation in allowing the day to flow. We had to grab Michelle to tell her it was time for the first dance, even though it was already 30 minutes after the agreed time. Overall the venue is lovely and can’t fault the grounds and function room. If the place had somebody with good organisational and people skills, it would be the best venue in Essex!
