This is a little known gem of the golden triangle of what is Shotley, Harwich and Felixstowe. Due to my work I often have to travel from Felixstowe to Harwich now you can get the train round which takes about two hours or you can ride on this little beauty and it takes about 15 minutes, no contest in my eyes. From Felixstowe it runs every half past the hour, the exact times for the ask the stops and running times can be found or the very easy to use website. You can either pay for your journey on board out book it on the website (I would recommend you book it on the website, just to be on the safe side as if not it's a first come first served basis). The boat comes right to the beach and lowers the gangway so you step straight from the beach onto the vessel. There's plenty of room on board inside and out (people even bring bikes onboard), buy if it's sunny I recommend sitting out it's just more fun. There's a lovely cafe which overlooks the bay so if you do miss your boat you can wait there our there's always the fort to explore. You can get use the train anytime bit when can you get to do the same journey in a quarter of the time for half the price and get to experience the most wondrous mistress that is the sea.
