Each lot in their online catalogue has one image & the absolute bare minimum description, pretty useless when trying to determine the condition of the vast majority of items. However, the manager does insist that you can contact them for a full condition report for absolutely any lot that they offer. Unfortunately I didn't request a condition report for the pottery figure that I purchased from them, which had more cracks than Frank Carson, so a refund was refused. I really couldn't care about my monetary loss, the principle is far more important.... principles Hartley's have not.

Bought a delightful antique rocking horse here. The staff were incredibly accommodating and the courier I sent had no difficulty picking up my item.. I wish all auction houses were as customer-focused.

Very disappointed. I bought 2 items online on 2 separate occasions, 1 Beswick bull and a set of 3 beswick ducks. The bulls horn was broken and 2 of the ducks wings had been broken and glued back on. I spoke to a man on the phone who told me I should've attended the open day to check them before bidding. Spent over a £100 which was a complete waste of money.

Very disappointing experience at Hartley’s where I left several online bids on various items the night before the auction. The following day I was told that my bid had not been ‘printed out’ and given to the auctioneer. As such, two of the items in which I bid on where sold to another buyer for less than my offers. I can’t imagine that the Seller would have been happy that their asset was sold for less than what I was willing to pay . . .
