Very disappointing. Based on the excellent reviews here, I chose HRC, rather than a local company, to work on my Harley Davidson fuel tank. The tank was to be cut open, blasted clean, welded back together, the inside treated with a coating and finally the outside painted with primer. The person who was in touch with me was called Stan. At first, all seemed promising. I paid £390, and the tank arrived back a month after I’d sent it to them. One thing I will give this company full marks for is their packaging. Extreme care had been taken to protect the tank, and I was very happy until I actually looked inside the tank. You have a very limited view through the filler and fuel gauge holes, but I could see enough to tell a really shoddy job had been done. Most of the lining was as it should be, a black protective coating, but I could see many patches of rust. The first photo shows one of these. The blasting part of the process seemed not to have been done properly. As their website says, their coating won’t stick to rust. Also the petcock hole had not been treated at all, and was as rusty as the day I sent it to them. When I pointed this out, Stan agreed I should send the tank back at their expense. I made three requests: 1) As they had made a mistake, I said I’d expect the repair to be given some sort of priority. The job still took another month. 2) I asked him to keep me updated and send me some photos of the work in progress if he could. This was ignored, not even a polite "Sorry, we're not able to do this." 3) HRC had sent no receipt or job description first time, so I asked for one this time. When you pay that kind of money on a bike upgrade, you want the paperwork in case you later sell the bike. This perfectly reasonable request was ignored too. I got no explanation of what had gone wrong the first time, no partial refund or voucher or anything for the extra downtime, just a very brief “Sorry for any inconvenience.” In the meantime, I actually went and bought one of these inspection cameras so now I could check the inside properly. The coating was different this time, it looks like some sort of glass fibre. It’s much better, but still not ideal. In places the coating had dripped, forming “stalactites” which run all the way down from top to bottom. See second and third photos. Not a problem unless they interfere with your fuel sender float. Thankfully mine don’t. When they sprayed the outside with primer, they can't have plugged the holes. There was lots of primer inside the tank. Photo four shows tracks in the primer made by my inspection camera. I've blown and washed most of it out, now I have to hope my fuel filter catches whatever is left. The last photo shows their welding left an uneven surface, which is going to need filling and sanding before I get the tank repainted. Make your own mind up, but I certainly won’t use HRC again. Good : excellent delivery and packaging. Bad : poor communication, amateurish quality control, don’t put themselves in the customer’s shoes, don’t do invoices even when you ask.

Absolutely brilliant. I called to enquire as to a repair having put a hole through my tank with too long a bolt on my old motorbike. They offered to attempt a same day repair on the proviso of having a look first so I drove a few hours there, dropped the tank off then had a great few hours exploring the Naval Museum nearby and the beach too whilst they set to work. Returned to a superb repair with lovely welds and the absolute minimum of surrounding paint removed too; making my mistake easy to hide! Thoroughly recommended!
