Their properties are amazing and we’ve stayed with them several times over the years, but their no refund policy has to be considered unreasonable sometimes. Especially when you’ve stayed with them as often as we have and spent as much money with them as we have. Sometimes circumstances are beyond the booker’s control, and whilst we understand that the cottage owners can’t afford to cancel bookings, we are also bright enough to be aware that the company takes quite a bit of profit. Therefore, without touching the money that the property owners should have, it wouldn’t be asking too much for the company to refund a small part of their commission when they’ve been happy enough to take thousands from us over the years. But apparently they would rather lose a customer than refund a few pounds as a good will token. Response to your reply - I recall well changing the dates in 2015, thanks to the very kind property owners. But 2016 is the incident I’m referring to. And I’m not chastising the owners, I’m chastising your company for keeping all the commission rather than help a family who just lost a couple of thousand pounds because personal disaster meant they couldn’t catch the plane. I have stayed in your properties where the owners had issues crop up and we didn’t mention it or claim compensation, because we realise there are things out of people’s control. But you can’t see your way clear to offer a few pennies out of your “profit” so you’d rather lose a long term customer and shoot yourself in the foot because you will lose thousands long term. Anyway, you will stick to your “policy” and I am still entitled to my comment. Once upon a time generosity was the norm - now its a stranger.

My partner booked Stray View through Harrogate Holidays as a surprise for my 40th birthday, however given the weather and the 'beast from the east' he called and tried to change the dates..only to find an incredibly rude and unhelpful member of staff who refused to even entertain it. Given that the advice was not to travel and that public transport services were cancelled with it set to get worse we were disgusted with the extremely poor customer service putting profit above people's safety. We weren't even asking for our money back, all we wanted to do was change the dates of our stay. Faced with losing a significant amount of money we had no option but to try and get there. After an arduous journey we eventually managed and the apartment itself was lovely. The owners rang up to see if we got there ok and even they were shocked that the company hadn't let us change the dates, they offered to let us stay on free of charge for a few days if we got stuck which was very nice of them. We did manage to get home eventually but the dealings with this company soured a special occasion and would never book through them again! Beautiful apartment, would highly recommended but would advise to book through another company as we found them extremely poor and unhelpful.
