I just wanted to say a massive thank you for all the alterations to my beautiful dress! From my first appointment the team were professional, personable and incredible. Finding out I was pregnant and then pregnant with twins just before the wedding was a little bit of a surprise but the team were brilliant and made such small adjustments to ensure I could still wear my dream dress! I really can’t thank everyone enough. Service: Alterations

My wedding dress needed taking in. I also wanted a bustle and a customised top added to cover my shoulders. I had read several glowing reviews of Abigail Westrup and a friend was using them. When I arrived at my first fitting I was not in the system. Thankfully I could show my confirmation email. There was also no record of me having paid my £50 deposit so I had to scroll back through five months of bank transactions to show proof of payment. I explained what I wanted and was told that the top would need to be made of tulle. The assistant didn't explain why or show me sample. As it seemed this was the only option I agreed and paid for the alterations (almost £600). No measurements were taken. I was given a detachable top to wear to estimate the size of customised the top needed. At the second fitting, the dress had been taken in and a bustle added but the customised top had not been made. Instead, a sample piece of material had been loosely cut which could then be pinned to me and used to make the customised top. Again, no measurements were taken. Jade, who was working on my dress, mentioned that the top did not have to be made out of tulle but that other options were available. This was confusing as it was not what I had been told at the first fitting by the assistant. I emailed the bridal shop and attached photos of what I wanted. Abi phoned me and explained that I could have double tulle but that other materials either would not match the skirt or give enough flexibility. I therefore agreed to this. At my third fitting, two weeks before the wedding, the customised top had been made but was completely transparent. It was also too tight on the arms and neck, leaving a red mark which was still visible hours later. The skirt stuck out at a strange angle and the chest looked square not smooth. I asked for the neck, sleeves, chest and skirt to be altered. It also looked like the waistband had been raised which I had not requested. I was very upset as the dress was extremely uncomfortable and the shoulders were see through. I was disappointed that the dress was still not wearable and that I would have to make a fourth trip to collect the final dress. I was reassured that they would work on the dress until the night before if necessary. However I didn't want to have to wait until then as I wasn't sure how it would turn out. At my third fitting, one bride and her mother came in for her appointment. When she gave her name she was told she'd got the wrong time and was sent back out in the rain. It looks like communication issues were not just an issue for me. The Friday before my final fitting Jade phoned and suggested she take some of the lace from the skirt and use it to cover the shoulders. I agreed to this. On Saturday 23rd, one week before the wedding, I went for my fourth fitting with my husband-to-be as friends and family were unavailable and I didn't want to have to go alone, having been so upset at the previous fitting. We were both disappointed that he would see the dress before the wedding day. The shoulders were now covered with lace from the skirt. However, the neck was still cutting into me so Jade took the dress back upstairs to lower it. I tried it on again and all seemed fine. I was keen to finish the fitting and take my dress home after the negative experience I had had. Unfortunately on the wedding day it became apparent that the arms were still too tight and by the evening I had big red welts on my arms from where the dress had been rubbing. I couldn't raise my arms to do the first dance. My bridesmaid cut the sleeves to relieve the pressure on my arms and enable me to move. I had to put plasters on. It was very painful. All in all I had a negative and stressful experience. I would recommend that you look for an alternative boutique. If you do decide to go with Abigail Westrup, ask for Jade, be prepared to make several trips and ask for small alterations only, avoiding customisations altogether. Keep email confirmation of all transactions and appointment times to avoid being turned away. Service: Alterations

I can't thank my amazing seamstress Dee enough - she's an angel!!! The whole experience at AWB was gorgeous... from arriving at the pink door, being in the beautiful studio, and then discussing through soo many exciting options and choices! We added custom sleeves to my dress and Dee listened to every single thing I liked and didn't like... and created the most gorgeous floaty Bishop sleeves, making my dress totally unique!!! Plus the fittings made it tailored exactly to me, and it fit like a glove - it was SO comfortable for the entire wedding day!! Dee was an absolute expert, but made the fittings fun and so positive - never overpowering with her opinion, just gently guiding and working her magic! Honestly, don't go anywhere else... I've heard of bridal seamstress experiences being stressful, but mine was a DREAM at AWB, and I will love my dress forever! Service: Bridal & bridesmaids

Visiting Dee at AWB was honestly one of my favourite parts of wedding planning. I had three appointments with her and she was so warm and friendly every time, it felt like chatting with a friend who was genuinely really excited about my big day! And the alterations...all I can say is wow. I knew my dress was the one as soon as I tried it on, but Dee made it mine. I loved every minute of wearing my dress, I felt so confident and comfortable and that was all thanks to Dee's hard work. I can't speak highly enough of AWB - don't hesitate to book in!
