FAQ

What are the qualifications and experience of your osteopaths?

Our osteopaths at Harper Road Osteopaths are all fully qualified and registered with the General Osteopathic Council. They have completed a rigorous education and training program, including a minimum of four years of undergraduate study and a period of supervised clinical practice. Additionally, our osteopaths have years of experience treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and are committed to continuing education to keep up-to-date with the latest techniques and research.

How does craniosacral therapy differ from other types of manual therapy?

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on approach to manual therapy that focuses on the craniosacral system, which includes the bones, tissues, and fluids that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Unlike other forms of manual therapy, such as chiropractic or physiotherapy, craniosacral therapy does not involve forceful manipulation or cracking of the joints. Instead, it uses subtle movements and pressure to release tension and improve the function of the craniosacral system.

How many sessions do patients typically need?

The number of sessions a patient needs will depend on a variety of factors, including the nature and severity of their condition and how well they respond to treatment. Some patients may experience significant improvement after just one or two sessions, while others may require more extensive treatment to achieve their goals. At Harper Road Osteopaths, we work with each patient to develop a personalized treatment plan that takes into account their unique needs and goals.

What techniques do you use for treatment?

At Harper Road Osteopaths, we use a variety of techniques to help our patients achieve optimal health and wellness. These may include joint mobilization, soft tissue massage, stretching and strengthening exercises, and craniosacral therapy. We take a holistic approach to treatment, addressing not just the symptoms of a patient's condition but also its underlying causes.

Can craniosacral therapy be helpful for my specific condition or symptoms?

Craniosacral therapy has been shown to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions, including headaches, neck and back pain, stress and anxiety, and TMJ disorders. However, every patient is different, and the effectiveness of craniosacral therapy will depend on a variety of factors. During your initial consultation,

Lorna at Harper Road Osteopaths became a brilliant alternative for a physiotherapist (at another reputable establishment) that did little more than read out loud a printout of exercises to treat my frozen shoulder. Whilst I continued with the exercises, she provided much needed manipulation of the area, suggested extra home routines, and helped me recover at a much faster rate. She's knowledgeable, honest and would go the extra mile to help and work with you to solve any issues.

I cannot recommend Lorna enough - she is respectful, knowledgeable and straightforward. I had persistent pain in my neck for 2 years and Lorna was able to relieve the tension in just a few sessions. I only wish I had booked in a session earlier!

I have been going to Lorna for the past 2 years for the Perrin Technique for treating Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. She is very knowledgeable and also quite empathetic, which is a rare combination. I highly recommended seeing her for any osteopath needs.

The clinic was recommended to me by a friend. I suffered from headaches and neck pain for years, but from the first session with Lorna, I could experience the benefits of the treatment and walked out feeling much better. The sessions are so helpful, and she has also given me methods to correct my posture, desk setup, etc., which are great too. I highly recommend the Harper Road Osteopaths.

I have been seeing Lorna for a couple of years now and she's always fantastic. Very knowledgeable and ensures the patient understands the issues fully. I first came to see her for a sports injury, which has fully disappeared. Luckily, I have been injury-free for a while, but I still come back for a sports massage every so often, which is always great. Really happy to have found Harper Road Osteopaths and always recommend them to family and friends, too (who have also been very happy when they did go to see them).

I've been going to this practice for a few months now and found it very beneficial. It was originally recommended to me by an excellent back care yoga teacher and I have not been disappointed. It is conveniently located near London Bridge tube and the space is cosy and full of light. The osteopath I have been seeing (Lorna Rose) is very personable and really listens, adapting what she does to what you need and what you can handle on the day in question. She makes what she is doing seem like a breeze but in fact she spends the whole session working on your muscles and bones in different ways very effectively. I always walk out feeling looser, lighter and just generally less constricted and knotted. I recently went with a specific and very painful arm and shoulder problem and she made me feel so much better in one sitting. I am now doing some exercises to keep the benefits going. Overall I am so happy I discovered this place!

I had terrible back and neck pain after a long and bumpy flight and Harper Road Osteopaths were brilliant. Firstly they moved things around so they see me the same day and then they talked through my issues before treating me and giving me methods to use at home. My back has been great since with no pain. Highly recommend.

I've been seeing Lorna Rose since I gave birth. She has helped me go through postpartum problems as nerves trapped and huge muscles tensions. Lorna also checks on my newborn. She is caring and very knowledgeable. I really recommend her.
